How to paint Drums?

  Golf 7.5R & Clio 200
Hello,

I'm wanting to paint my drums black, but want to leave them attached. To my knowledge, I have to;-

1. Sand (300 - 400 Grit/Steel Wool?)
2. Primer
3. Paint (Caliper paint?)

Is that literally it? May sound silly, but do you Lacquer Drums?

Also, when cleaning before sanding, what would you recommend for de-greasing? Any products? Or just elbow grease?

Thanks in advance!

I just cleaned mine up with a wire brush and put on two coats of Hammerite. Lasted a year and a half, then I sold the car.

No need for primer. Well I didn't bother anyway, just sanded the surface and painted black hammerite on. Simple job :)

Wire brush on drill
some gunk/engine machine cleaner
hammerite black/silver direct to rust paint
couple of coats
Bang, you're done
