How to stop text moving to where cursor is sitting?!

Hello,

New lap top, when I’m writing e-mails/word etc. My text keeps reverting back to where my cursor is sitting on the document etc. Pain in the ass. How do I turn this feature off?!

Thanks

Ali

What do you mean?

When your in a normal Word document and your cursor is say half way down the page, the cursor assigns that sport for text to be written?

Yeh, literally...But normally the cursor is sitting above what i've already written...So i end up typing text into text i've already written.

Does that make more sense??! I have minimal Admin rights on the laptop?! So may need IT to do this.

Is the touch pad really sensitive and when you're typing furiously, you're brushing the touch pad with your manly palms and it's registering as a click?

Yeah, what alex said, i do it on mine occasionally, I'll be typing away when suddenly the text starts in the middle of something i already typed, took me ages to realise it was me touching the pad with my wrist as i was typing.

Its common...if you use a mouse, then you should be able to disable the touchpad in your BIOS.

Try this
Start > Control Panel > Mouse > [click on Pointer Options tab] > deselect "Snap To" ("Automatically move pointer to the default button in a dialog box")

Hopefully this helps you

boaby, ive got the exact same problem with my laptop, the auto snap has never been selected, I bough a blue tooth mouse and I dont seem to have the problem but as soon as I use the touch pad it seems to happen. Thats with the sensitivity turned right down aswell.

that's what was the matter with mine and realised that the box had been selected
