I assume I can ditch these toothed rings from my 172 Cup?

In the course of removing the front hubs from my 172 Cup to have the wheel bearings replaced I see that there is a tooted ring sitting on each driveshaft. The drivers side was so rusted that it just broke into 2 pieces, the photos show the ring in place on the pass side and the broken ring on the drivers side. Since the 172 Cup has no ABS, I assume I can simply ditch these rings on both sides as they serve no purpose? Appreciate someone confirming just to put my mind to rest. Thanks.

Does your Speedo still work without them?

It should do, AFAIK the speedo takes its feed from the gbox

Yes you can ditch them as Cup does not need then due to no abs and speedo pick up from gearbox
