I want a Ph-1 though as i just prefer them for some reason. (I will put mk2 18's on it though)

What are the chances of me finding an 02 plate onwards the right side of 10k? With under 30,000 miles?

And why is the market flooded with CAT C/D cars?!

This was actually meant to be a discussion, not a wanted advert?!

I reckon i'll find one in time...

*EDIT* BeefMC, cheers dude, but its got to be less than 30k.

Might be able to get this one- http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/05-52-Renault...oryZ9861QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem at a good price if you rock up with the cash and work your magic...maybe offer some favours also ;o) lol

They've had that in for months now, should be able to knock them down on it pretty easliy i'd have thought.

Good luck on getting a decent one for 10k dude, I found that price reflected condition.

The reason that a lot are cat D etc is because of the price of the parts to repair them, you say clio v6 & a dealers eyes light up, you then bend over.

Yep ... it's mostly about the body parts on the Vee. A cat D on most cars would suggest some serious damage, but on a Vee it really doesn't have to be anything more than cosmetic unfortunately. Eg. clip the curb in the wet, damage the rear suspension, a rear wing, and a rear bumper, and suddenly it's write off time :S. A side pod alone is over £500, a bumper over £1200!

When I was looking about 8 months back - the £10k ones reflected the fact they were at the bottom end of the price range. Lots of crap paint repairs, mainly imports (any with a number higher than 500 is an import is the easiest way to tell) without the tracker/window etchings and poorly carried out bodges to the fibre glass.

Mk2 18s will require spacers on the front I beleive.

mk1's are supposed to be pretty hard to handle especially in the wet and on the limit (could explain the amount of cat c/d cars around)..i guess thats why renault decided to build the mk2 themselves rather than let TWR do it for them again
i also heard a rumour that the screws used to secure the body kit (from the inside panel) are prone to rust and causing spilts where the panels meet...

Not to mention the fact that TWR went bust ;)

I've never seen one (in real life, or online) with the body kit splitting from the panels, or heard that before? But yea, the Mk1 in the wet will not tolerate fools heh. Mind you, neither will the Mk2. Both are short wheel based, mid engined, RWD cars with a whole load of torque heh. Just that the Mk2 has loads more understeer built in to safen it up and try and reduce the KSI stats hehe!

TWR used to do a lot of work on jag's. years ago I once got to do a valet on a customers car, an XJ V8 sport saloon, it had the full twr works done to it, loads of engine work, twin turbo, suspension kit, wheels and manual gearbox. It even had two boost guages and sounded immense just on tick-over.
XJ saloons, even the sports ones, usually feel a bit wallowy but this was tight and solid, it's fair to say the best four door car I've ever been in. I didn't even know twr had gone bust, that's a damn shame really.
