Iceberg Silver 172

  Iceberg 172
Hi,

Just purchased my first, 02 plate Iceberg Silver Renaultsport Clio 172.
After owning Japanese cars since getting my license, i thought id have a change especially after the disappointing ownership of the very soft Ep3 type R.
Anyway, Just recently came back from working abroad and came back to purchase a car with my partner, which happened to be a 182 FF.
Enjoyed the car so much that i thought id have one for myself.

The car has the following modifications:

K-Tec Engine Mounts
K-Tec Recessed Exhaust with silencer
K-Tec Coilovers
K-Tec De-Cat
K-Tec Induction Kit
K-Tec ECU remap
K-Tec engine cover
Xenon headlights and LED sidelights etc

I dont really have any urgency to buy many parts as of yet...
But on my list are:

Ktec Top mounts
Front and rear struts
Rear camber kit
FIxed Driver Bucket Seat
Steering wheel :)

Just general maintenance and cleaning for time being though..
Ayway, Pictures to come....

Weather cleared up, so finally got a chance to get a few snaps:

Just over a month ownership of the clio now.. Started to really appreciated the character of the car till...
- Damp footwell
- Broken Key fob (Re soldered the button ;) all fixed :))
- Misfiring (Has ktec remap) but now running rich.. looking for solutions currently?!?!

Bought a few parts though;

- Rainsport 2's on all 4 corners
- Rear Strut
- Cup Spoiler
- Changed pollen filter
- Parcel shelf

Hope to get all the things fixed soon as im looking to do the Ride height, 4 wheel allignment and service.
(Quick q to anyone with an answer, does the rubber front top mounts rotate and have a little bit of play when turning the wheel left and right?)

  Iceberg 172
Anyway, here are the updates so far.
The tyres were budget (Wanli) so i decided to get the Rainsport 2 tyres

Car doesnt oversteer for no reason anymore :)

Had the key fob fail on me recently and so looked through the forum (very useful!) and found out that, by removing the button itself on the circuit board and re - soldering it, the button will work perfectly once again :)
Work in progress

Due to the bad weather, my car has developed a wet floor on the drivers side footwell mainly and the rear drivers side floor ..
so... out came the interior (was gonna strip it to have a look and clean anyway ;) but it was perfect timing to get all the dirt, maintenance and gunk out.

Out came the old sub and wires..

Packed up to observe the water/rain through the coming weeks..

  Iceberg 172
Funny enough.. the weather picked up and no rain came down since the clocks went forward.. o_O.. so decided to wash the car and see whether it was water coming from the inside or the heater/air con pipes dripping....

was going to wax and finish the tyres.. but noticed water coming though!.. so it eliminated the heater and air con pipes and that the water had to be coming from the outside..

Did a little research and read on the forum that it could of been the inner arch lining causing the leak.. and that maybe it could be coming from the 'A' pillar.,
Anyway, decided to check that... but there was no water etc coming through either spots.. so .. i dug a little deeper and found the Leak!

  Iceberg 172
. . Anyway, for those who still have the problem... the water is coming from the underneath plastic flaps at the top of the bonnet. Couldnt get any good pictures as it was dark... but i took some pictures today to show where the water drips from inside.

There is a hole in an oval shape that is right inbetween the engine and the windscreen (quite deep in), over the years, im guessing that gunk got on top of the hole, and stop the water running through, therefore allowing water to run back into the car..
Did the hose test etc and the car is water free now.. just gonna leave it for the rain before put all the interior back in.

Are you talking about the drain?

I remember my brothers friend changed my gearbox on my 1.2 and at the time he shoved the drain out of the way.

It was leaking into the car for months after that until we discovered it haha

  Iceberg 172
Had a friends cousin that carbon wrapped.. and seeing as this car is on a budget.. he kindly offered to help me do the plastics on the outside and help me with the water leak search also.
Took him only a day to help me do some parts, and seeing as my spoiler got delivered along with my parcel shelf and rear strut, i thought id take a few pictures after installing the spoiler.

Spoilers:

Possibly.. the hole is sitting quite far in..just next to the the heater motor unit.

  Iceberg 172
Had a productive weekend and found the leak cure and allowed the car to test for result of the cure etc.. Anyway, decided to put the interior back in as unlike my old ek9, the clio, for me, is a much nicer place with the interior in :)

IMG_5779_zpsed8249de.jpg

Finally with all the bolts and clips in the right place ;).. the car feels solid again (rattly free)

Decided to get a head unit as the one that came with the car was knackered cosmetically

Had a good few hours of cleaning and detailing today and the car is clean!
Looking back, ive only had this for for just over a month and already have fixed alot of the problems.. very happy with the result as the car feels much better than the initial pick up when purchasing the car.

ANyway, some pictures

looks amazing mate, love the way the exhaust sits at back flush with bumper, was it direct fit from k-tec?

Thanks for the comment :) The exhaust is indeed from Ktec, sits very nice under the arch. Unfortunately, the exhaust was already on the car so i dont know whether they cut the bumper or not.

  Iceberg 172
Very nice mate :)

What else have you got planned?

Thanks for reading :)..
Nothing inparticular atm.. just wanted to restore the oem stuff first and get the car working properly etc..
The car drives alot better than when i first got it. No so much the engine or performance etc, more the handling and build, rattles etc.
Changing the overall appearance to something i prefer etc
Will post up on here if i do have updates.

Had absolutely nothing to do today so washed the car and just took some pictures.. nothing planned or new but to keep it clean.. (Rear ARB and mats possibly) Aside from that, the car is .. Happy now.
Just a few pictures with the DSLR:
