Where do people usually mount them?

It says in the MSA blue book that you should be able to reach them when strapped into the car. Though I suspect many cars have them mounted where people can't reach them.

Any chance you can show me where it says it? Just read the book I have and couldn't find it.. strange. I have the 2017 edition.

Scratch that, I think I found it.

Not very discriptive. Says you need to be normally seated. If I am normally seated I can reach easy but if i am tightly strapped in I am 1 inch short...

I think that's the bit. You're right, the wording is a little vague, perhaps not quite so clear as I remember, so you could probably get away with it.

Common sense would probably have it mounted where it could be reached easily though. If you were upside down with your weight on the belts, it might be harder to move yourself to reach it. Saying that, in both my Escorts, neither are in a very easy to reach spot and are mounted where they would have been in works cars.

As with most things in the Blue Book, it's decidedly grey!

Epic! Just over-run my lunch break by reading the entire thread through!

The only change I'd make personally - would have to painted the engine bay completely as well. Although you never see it - taking it back to the shell and not respraying it would bug me too much!

much room between the seats? or between/off to the side of the shifter.

Not a lot. But doable. Thinking either one of this will work.

Can easily fabricate some brackets to hold it in place securely.

was just going to say you'll be more than capable of knocking a bracket up

don't forget you need a pair of harness cutters as well, i normally put them between the seats at the front.

Now we cooking!!
Before I can tackle fuel and brake lines I though It would be wise to paint engine bay next.
After taking sealant off, I though why not seem weld around the strut supports for extra strength and remove few bits that I don’t need.
Decided not to go crazy with the chopping as some of you guys did.

Decided I didn’t want to use jubilee clips and instead took fuel lines to local hydraulic shop to be crimped

You might be able to have it there, but just need to make it so it can't be adjusted during a race. Perhaps have a cover over it or similar.

Ballz! Well not competing till 2019 anyways. So might move it later somewhere I can’t reach during race...

This is the current rule

(c) It must be possible under all conditions, running or stationary, for 25% minimum braking effort to be applied by the driver through the braking system to each axle. (Vehicle models introduced prior to 31.12.65 are exempt from this requirement.)

(d) Brake balance adjusters must not be available for adjustment during running if they contravene (c).

Is this changing then?

I know in the TDC you have to have an onboard camera positioned to capture all the controls including the bias valve, if fitted, so they can review footage if the organisers suspect there is any foul play (people changing engine maps, bias positions mid race etc)

Yeah that’s what I was thinking, use a plastic cover with small padlock on it lol :)
Also good shout regarding camera @Tomotek

Looks like Mitch Plowman's kit. I've just bought the same so it's good to see where you've run it. Have you tried welding the EPAS plates yet?

Yes it’s his. Though I would save myself a headache and not use copper. Glad I did.
Regarding plates, not yet mate. Looked at them today but instead decided to strip the engine lol..

Kinda wish I went with a bigger bottle with more nozzles.. maybe an electronic one as well. I guess I can alway upgrade later.
Still debating where to position engine bay nozzle?

i do a nozzle at the front drivers side pointing to the fuel rail and one the passengers side towards fuse box. hope you don't need to move the fuel or brake lines, be fun to drill all those pop rivets out :tongueclosed:
