Suppose you’d have to draw the line at exterior bodywork... haha. Be a pain to wash, and an aerodynamic nightmare

Not much to write about this update. Just one thing, it bloody RuNs!!! ? I did not mess up anything and DIY loom building at home is possible!

Still need to tidy it up and wrap in few places and clip to chassis. Defo didn’t want to do I before I see it run in case I have to take it out again.
Actualy this is how I am attempting to solve idle control with cable throttle.

This is only a base map. A little rough. Needs a lot more work done. But getting there

Just a quick one for today.
Spend most of the day ironing out the set up. What do people do for 2 speed fans? Little puzzled if I need to use fan resistor or just have it at full speed?
Also struggling with idle control valve. Does not respond to any adjustments I am trying to do. But I know it’s working because in test function I can test it.
Anyways. Fitted new wheels speed sensor to rear wheel for launch control
c55c8b27e88294fa7537ca3992bf1a89.jpg

Also the naca duct. Keep some air circulating inside as the plexi windows are only for passing notes hahha

Finally fitted the windscreen. Well actualy one of the handful of jobs I paid someone to do it. Partly cos material alone would cost more than I paid to fit it. This is Ricky Evans motorsport heated windscreen

Took the loom out completely to tidy it up.
And ultimately take some pictures for history books [emoji851][emoji41]

Now back it goes again. This time semi permanent.

If I were to do it again. I would probably do it slightly differently next time. Need to plan final locations a little better. Also the routing of the loom in the bay play a big role. I am extremely happy it all works! But now I know why they charge so much money for custom looms. The amount of time it takes is unbelievable.

Ok so got a few questions about your loom...
How did you print the stickers out for each connector?
How did you decide what you could remove or keep?
Have you remove all none essentials like immobiliser, locks, windows, mirrors, UCH thing?
How do you bypass the fuel cut off is so?
I'm running a gen90 ecu with jenvey bodies and I have wires EVERYWHERE that I don't need but don't know how to go about de pinning them and removing them.
I'm a panel beater for bmw so I'm not Joe blogs of the street but wiring is the devil.
Any help appreciated

He is running a DTA ecu and a cartek control panel. So he doesn't have any of the Renault electrics left, completely different set up to your GEN90 set up

As mentioned previously. I completely ditched all Renault electronics. Only the rear loom left but was heavily trimmed.
The labels are made with label maker and clear shrink wrap on top. Everything else either controlled by Cartek PDP. Or the ECU.

There's a birds nest of wiring that I need out

There is a lot of the original wiring that can be removed. heater, stereo, electric mirrors, windows, airbags.......list goes on. In all honesty for what you save weight wise it genuinely isn't worth the hassle.

Both you cars have raised the bar when it comes to track car builds. Both inspiring others to improve their own cars. Credit to both of you.
Be nice to see you both on track.

Any pending dates your thinking about for first day out?

What an awsome build just read it from the start. have you kept renault chassis loom for the brake lights and stuff or have you totally redone this aswell?

  dan's cast offs.
I taught him everything he knows about wiring...

Rule 1, bin all original wiring and start from scratch ?

Yes that part of the loom has stayed. Although heavily modified. In fairness all it has is few wires for the rear lights and few wires for the pump. That’s about it. Center brake light has been wired to a different light mounted on roll cage. Also swapped all the pins around on the rear lights as I am using ph1 rear lights. Everything else has been created from scratch.

I can’t thank Carl enough for all the help he provided! An ocean of knowledge that I tried to absorb like a sponge!!! Turned out alright didn’t it [emoji12]
The best lesson I learned was when he said: ditch the lot and start from scratch [emoji51]?.

Running out of things to do [emoji28][emoji847][emoji848]

Cockpit cooling. I may have done it wrong but I think it should work a treat.

+another handheld. Figured why not. 4.5kg ballast won’t do any harm if it low down [emoji854]
Very strange, in the listing it said Msa approved. But has no date on it? Probably would end up swapping for a proper lifeline later.

And fitted my “ram” air duct for the air filter. Once the bumper is painted, this should do the trick I think! + extra kudos for another 3 holes in the bumper [emoji51]
