When I turn the engine on the revs go mad and fluxuate up and down for about 10ish seconds and then the Electronic Fault Light comes on and the engine cuts out. If you try turning it on again the same thing happens! I have no real idea what the problem could be but I have literally just taken the battery out (see below). Also I left it for about an hour then tried again and the first time it behaved almost normally for about 5 seconds, then there was a click and the problem was back! Also when I turn the engine off you can still hear a bit of a whining noise coming from underneath the car.
Here's a bit of background to the problem (don't know if it will help) I left my lights on (moron) and the battery died so I tried jump starting it but no luck and then tried a battery charge kit thing and still no luck. I then took it out and charged it for 4-5hours and put it back in and tried to start with bonnet open - no luck. Then closed bonnet and it starts and then the next problem occurs!
