Impressive Renault Service.

After all the bad episodes people have suffered i thought i would mention the visit I had to Dutton James St Helens. Over the weekend it became apparent that what I had thought was a dash rattle was actually an exhaust rattle. I rang the dealership this morining who said they would look at the car this afternoon. They diagnosed the problem as a cracked centre section of the exhaust, which had in turn damaged the cat. As the car is 14mths old i was due to make a contribution. The guy on service said tbat seeing as the car had only covered 13k this was not acceptable and he had spoken to renault and that I would not have to contribute. (He also suggested that as the car was uk supplied this had made it easier). There is a back order on the parts so it will be a few weeks, but the replacement exhaust will be covered for a further 12mths.

It makes a change for a dealership to take repsonsibilty for their customers and their service was excellent and prompt. :D

Unlike Arnold Clark..... but that is another story:mad:

No, it has had a bit of louder hum for a few weeks, but I was quiet liking the sound as it had a bitmore of a sporty tone, wasnt sure whether it was me being over sensitive. However, went down to stratford over the weekend, after 2hrs on the motorway the noise was getting louder amd rattle convinced me all was not right. Apparantly hot parts of metal from the fracture have damaged the cat and also the silencers so it most likley needs a full system apparently!!!

Nice one! I was beginning to think that the little out-of-town Telford dealer was the only good one in the whole world!

from my own expierience and working for the AA ive found that the best dealers are the ones out in the sticks (country). They get less customers and so cant warrant charging sky high prices and there a bit more relaxed than the city ones.

my 16v in its past life had the cambelt service an the total cost came to £280 from a reno dealers which seems like a good deal to me. All depends on what type of bloke the manger of the delaers is.

I also had a very good service from Renault Wolverhampton.

They gave me a new temperature senser free even though i was out of warrantee, and were very helpfull.

Yeah, You do always have to wait, especially thee 172. but that is renault uk. It makes a change to find a dealer who cares used them a few times, but have tried to take it to Arnold Clark as they supplied the car and am getting a bit p****d off with them. They said Id have to wait a week before theyd even look at it.
