I'd just like to post an update to this as i know a few of you guys who posted in here are interested about insuring a 1*2 at an early age

Basically, Adrian flux have given me an EXTREMELY good quote - 1780.96 FC. That is with a £300 excess, 19 year old, 2yncb, 2 years experiance, Unclassified postcode, 3 points on my licence & a yozzasport exhaust and upgraded breaks declared. If i get a smashed windscreen it will cost me £75 to get a new one through them and i get a personal injury limit of up to 20k & legal costs up to 50k.

Moral of the story - Modify your car boys and girls as the person on the phone said it opens more doors to specialist insurers.

Not bad! I was with Flux first of all on my 172 but I had been driving for a year and 8 months not two years so they couldn't cover me but the quote was £900 TPFT with all teh above stuff! Will be going with them next year I think

I was in the same boat as you and being a year younger struggled to find any quotes that wernt over 5000. I paid just over 2400 in the end from admiral and in my opionion. Well worth it!

Imo if you put a bit on to the excess price, the premium will drop more. It's not somethnig i'd do personally but some on here do it, so they pay less for insurance.

i could pay more out on the excess but i can't be doing with the hasstle if anything goes wrong trying to find 600 or whatever at such short notice.. i will enquire about it though

I just bought a 182, I am 24 and have been driving for just under two years, have no NO CLAIMS and I am paying £1,680 fully comp. Age is the biggest killer.

Next year when have 1 years NO CLAIMS and will have been driving for just under three years i'll be paying about £880 according to current quotes. However i'll be 25 then. Age is the biggest killer, as I said above.

Just read through this thread hoping to get some tips for getting decently priced insurance when i get my 182 in a month or so hopefully... After searching around a fair bit, the best i could find was:

£1300 Fully Comp.
Thats being 19 with 2 years NCB. pretty impressed with that tbh.

That was with Admiral (multi car discount aswell).
Mind you, i have a £1000 excess lol. In a B rated postcode though.

Yea i think it is hit and miss really. some are luckier than others. Am still gonna ring around and try and better that quote.
Ony tried confused.com, bell and admiral... so still plenty left to try.

I have gone with brentacre, as they offer like for like, its a tad more expensive, but its really worth it IMO.

My renewal will be either 1230 FC or 811 TPFT.

Wanted it for 1k FC, but gonna go with the TPFT quote anyways.
No-one could touch Flux, some even accused me of lying about having the car since I was 19!!

It was you that helped me out get my quote and 2 insurance certs (from me and you) show were not BS. Why would we lie about insurance quotes lol

Exactly, that was with a broker called Sky. They said there was no way I could have insured this car at 19, as they couldnt allow me insurance through them until I was 21!

I sent you a massive pm ages ago chris. Just tell them its modified when they ask you and state whats been done.

pepsi had coilovers and an exhaust and i have got braided breaks and an exhaust and we bother got simular quotes on a D rated PC.

Ive had loads of qoutes for when im 21 but i really want to be driving it sooner so rang flux up today ill try again with mods but i doubt it will be less than that

im with a company called prudential im 22 with 2 years no claims and i pay 1182 fully comp on a clio 172, norwich union wouldn't insure me on one till i was 25!!!!!

one got write off then my other one the engine went lol!!! but just had service on my clio. front suspension spring snapped plus 2 new toyo proxy tyres fitted and brembo max discs and ebc greenstuff pads for the front cost an arm and a leg!!!!!!
