I got 3 points after a year of driving luckily haven't had any more since. Had a few lucky escapes in my 172 were I could have easily got 6 points each time!

Just had a quote from Admiral - and I'll believe it once I've read the details. It's got £500 excess on it and I have to pay the full premium in one lump - but they quoted me £367 on the 182.

Im 19 with 2yrs NCB in a few weeks. Just had a quote from Brentacre of £1600 on a 172.

Good price that.

Engine conversions are generally easier to insure than the car they came out of though so you got some common sense

After some research my renewel is looking to be around 1200

I ran a fresh quote through and put my 18 YO gf as a named driver (Just to see) and she knocked £20 off ! :O
She aint driving it though

Need to add an exhaust onto my list my cat is forked so I need another / decat. If I'm getting a decat it rules a yozza out though, das ist zu laut.

I might try adding my GF actually as it would be usefull if she could drive the car. I can then go out and get fucked and she can drive

you should be able to get it down to less than 1200, i reinsured mine at 20 with 3 years ncb for 1000 with keith micheals

I'm dreading getting insurance quotes for a 172. Going to start soon though 19, 2NCB, 2 years experience, no points and IAM.

Hopefully somebody will come up with a decent quote though, i'll be going through the list in this thread and every specialist I can find in the back of Evo mag etc.

If not then its back to the drawing board.

Hi, if you go online and go on the tesco no frills insurance website. But you need at least one year on driving experience and if you can, put someone older as main driver...your parents for example and you as an additional driver. You still get your no claims every year alsong as you stay with tesco insurance. I have a 172 and costs me just under £600 year because my grandad is the main driver.

Insurance scares me sometimes,

Its 1700 quid for me to insure a 2007 S3 - £18,000
1200 quid for a brand new Cooper S.
1650 for a 55 plate Clio Sport, £6000.

I think they just pluck figures from the sky sometimes.

im still 20 and ive got 3 years no claims. elephant have just quoted me £1134 for fully comp and £1034 for third party. im kinda guessin im lucky for that price on my 172.

Mine in spain is 2260 full comp but then again only been driving just over a year now (llegally) and there are no good cars where i am in spain. never seen another clio sport since i been here only all this seat leon stuff.

£1700 seems pretty cheap for 19 yo but id wait till your 21 its just not worth it imo

Yeah the problemis it is on the drie already. If not my mums after a new car about that price range so she will have it as a car is just something that takes her too the shops

Most people pay that price on a 1.2 when they have just passed, why not pay it on a 2.0 at 19?

This. It's his money, so his choice. If cars are your hobby, then why not? We use them loads in everyday life, so why not spend extra to get something you can really enjoy/feel proud of?

I have friends who spend £1k-£2k on mountain bikes, then thrash them (as they were designed to be ridden) and after a year they're worth a lot less. The fact is that the purchase price means very little, as the enjoyment they get out of riding is worth every penny.

I have an idea....Dont insure the car...keep it in a garage and use it for track days alone and have it towed there. Have a cheap run around and just live for taking it on track...

With all the track driving experience you will have when you can get insured for a decent amount (i,e under £500) you will be a far deal quicker and a more skilled driver than almost all normal guys on the road..

Its my theory, may not work mind..

Just renewed my insurence today im 18 1yr ncb had a no fault accsident pass plus £1850 on a 1.2 16v car only worth £1500 its utter s**t i think

my girlfriend exact same on 1.3 Ka it 700 full comp

Just renewed my insurance yesterday. I've just gone 20, 3 years NCB no points or offences on a ph1 172 £900 unlimited miles and any modifications that don't increase power are free.

It's third party though, not worth getting fully comp on my car as it's not really worth much. The mods are insured though (coils steering wheel etc)
