Insurance thread for young 1*2 owners

  Turbo 182 Alfa 159
Waited until I was 21 to buy my 182. Got it for £790 at 21 with 1 years NCB. I have 2 but they wont accept one because I didn't declare it half way through my last policy!

Cheapest Brentacre could do was £1200, the rest of the specialist modified insurers wanted around £1500+. Was a bit gutted they couldn't come below the £1k mark.

If you guys don't live in the real ghetto give Sky Insurance a call.

Ollie also told me it's a 90% discount for Admin. Not sure if that's supposed to be a secret..

Got my renewal through from brentacre, however I changed occupation and got another 3 points last year (6 points in 5 years).

Despite this, my renewal premium hasn't changed LOL. Awesome!!!

Insurance is stupid.

Adrian flux want £1700, it was only £1000 2 years ago when I was less experienced, younger, less ncb.

CK/Sky/Greenlight/Livingstone Warman wouldn't quote because of age and/or postcode

Still waiting for brentacre and graham sykes to call back.

Elephant online is cheapest at about £750. But I'll wait and see what my renewal is from them first.

Any other specialists I've missed? I can't find the excel list that used to be on here :(

+I Pay 2800 on my 1.4 16v, with 1.5YNCB so only 1 on the books. :( :( :(

Got my insurance quote in for my 2001 Renault Clio 1.2 8V.. Due to me getting 6 points on my provisional in one go when i owned a motorbike, my insurance is £4000! :( i did a whole day of quotes and this was the cheapest one! went on tonnes of sites and some wouldnt even try to insure me, got another 2 years of the points being on my license aswell before they come off. So just got to grit my teeth and bear it. hopefully it goes down next year by atleast a grand or two :/

Don't have a clio as first car for starters lol.

Seriously though, add parents/grandparents, little mileage as you need. Phone up, don't just use comparison websites. But they are good for a rough figure which you can then work around.

try confused.com.... they're advertising about these smart boxes that will record how your driving. this will bring it right down! but downside is the fact you need to drive like miss daisy.

I've seen them, heard someone say it took their premium quotes down from £3000-£8000 to around £1000! Anyone got any experience they actually work?

I had the same. My first car was a 1.0ltr Micra and I was paying £1700. When I turned 18 I got a 2ltr Focus and was only paying £1050. I was the only person on my policy too.

Elephant - £1000 - Fully Comp - Age 22 - 1 year NCB - Coilovers declared.

That's with an accident last year too

Anyone think that's reasonable? Have tried Confused.com and the quotes are coming back about the same maybe a little bit higher.

Worth trying SKY or anyone else?

Hey Mate, What company is that, I'm 18 Im putting my 172 in my step dads and mum's name, lowest iI can find is £2300.
If you work in insurance got any tips or anything? PM me if you want

Ta!

Don't do that. If you have a bump and the insurance company realise it is your car you won't be covered.
