Internet help with laptop and Belkin Router.

This help is for a mate of mine. I have tried everything i can think of to get the damn thing working, but its not having it.

He has BT boadband. Has purchased a new belkin modem/router so he can get wireless on his new Acer laptop.

The internet/network works perfectly on the desktop pc.

The laptop reconises that there is the wireless connection. It connects to the connection. But when a webpage is loaded up, we get the message 'Webpage cannot be displayed'.

The desktop pc is running XP Home and the laptop is runnin Vista Home Premium.

Any help would be appreciated!

Yep, his one picks the ip address up. Just no internet pages

Is he getting DNS servers ?

Its staying as the web address, not changing to an IP address..

No you dont understand. Normally the DHCP server will issue the correct DNS entries to the client. No DNS server means when he types in an address it will just time out and say it cant be found.

Check the default gateway is correct too.

Check if you can ping the router.
