Few things this morning:
-You can opt out of iAd altogether apparently by visiting
http://oo.apple.com from your iPhone.
-It seems as though 4.0 hasn't escaped the growing bug list that seems incumbent with every Apple major release:
• The update to iOS 4 never installs and simply reboots your device endlessly.
• Update deletes all contacts, which are not restored in backups.
• Photos that you have synced to your device with iPhoto are extremely blurry.
• Broken MMS and Push Notifications.
• Auto-lock set to one minute with no option to change it.
Apparently Apple have also changed their T&C in the last 24 hours, making changes to their privacy policy. They're now within their rights to track and use location data from your device (though must be anonymous I'd assume?) for iAd targetting.
Other news, ultrasn0w is now updated and works in 4.0 meaning you can unlock your phone again.
4.0 seems pretty minor on my GF's 3G, I've been through literally every menu side-by-side with my 3.1.3 phone and aside from the odd change it's pretty much bang on identical, certainly nothing to write home about.
It does royally piss me off though that Apple have prevented the 3G using wallpaper, there's absolutely zero justification for it, or maybe the CPU can't handle it
. The multi-tasking IMO also looks dogshit, far too many steps to activate/deactivate it and it seems clear that a massive amount of people are going to be running apps in memory without knowing it [other than dire battery life]. Backgrounder seems a much more user friendly, obvious, and customisable affair, animated icon to show it's backgrounded and it's a single button press to turn it on or off.
I'll be sticking with 3.1.3 until app compatibility force me to update it.
