Is air con delete reversible?

Tim.

I'm debating going down the PMS lightweight route, or trying to source the cup setup for my 182 Trophy.

In either case, which is easiest to reverse and what's the associated effort required to revert back?

It is reversible iirc, depending on how you take it apart. Mine is non-reversible as we basically just ripped it out! Lol!

ps - effort to put it back, only the same as taking it out, but would need the system regassed etc etc.

Me and Sam deleted power steering on ours as well as aircon. Cost less than £20 as doing it that way means no expensive conversion kits or different alternators, and a couple of hours of our time.

If you use the car as a daily though, I can see that it wouldn't be appealing.

It's reversible if you keep all the bits. but not a 5 minute job.

Cup setup is better than the pure one IMHO.

What alternator/aircon brackets you use Daniel ??

I used a £7 belt from a motor factor, my original alternator, and a Renault 11 alternator bracket from Renault @ £12.

No pics of mine sadly.

My mate used his original alternator, the £7 motor factor belt, and an adjustable bracket from screwfix for £15.

Here is his;

  Many.
Depends how much of it you remove too. You could remove all the heater box in the scuttle and change that to non-AC (you couldn't change that to cup setup easily as cups don't have recirc). You'll need the bulkhead plate if doing that too.

Nothing is non reversible, just takes time to refit it all.

out of interest, how much drag does the AC really make when it's switched off?
Is it a significant amount that will slash lap times in half?
Or is it more the saving of a few kilos?

I have a PMS kit for sale if you're interested Tim. (;

As the others have said- it's not rocket science to re-install as long as you keep all the bits...

Almost nothing at all mate, when its switched off its essentially not much more than just an idler.

We're talking tenths of a bhp not whole ones.

Personally unless you are racing I would much sooner have aircon, its really nice on a summer trackday in the mrs car to be sat in the queue nice and cool before we head out.

sounds like a bit of a waste of effort to me then, for a road car anyway.

Not just a waste of effort, I think you are making the car worse removing the option to have some nice cool breeze in your face on a baking hot summer trackday.
Especially seeing as the aircon on these is so mega reliable in terms of the compressor just never seems to ever seize and take the belt out, so its not even a reliability upgrade to remove it really like it is with say the power steering pump where its not that uncommon for it to wreck your engine.

On the mrs car im doing it the opposite way to most people, im doing a PAS delete but keeping the aircon!
