is it safe to drive the car with the dash removed?

Hey guys,

This might be a silly question, but is it safe to drive the car with the dash top removed, i.e. with the airbags exposed. Just asking because in some guides they recommend disconnecting the battery before removing the dash. I'm trying to track the source of an air leak, which I think is coming from behind the dash in the firewall somewhere.

Would appreciate any input.

yea its safe only issue is seeing the dials due to the sun also feels really weird driving like that

I driven my 172 without the dash a few times now without any problems.

Pain in the ass with reflections at night though.
