Is it worth it??

Clearly that has amused you !!

Sorry but everyone is under the impression that all dealers are C**Ts, and that really bugs me.
I work in a dealership (Not Renault) and fitting of coilovers is hardly the worlds most difficult job is it !! So why if people trust them to service their vehicles do they not trust them to fit parts ??

Why would you not trust the dealership to fit Coilovers ?

re-read the posts before yours. this isnt about coilovers:rolleyes: they were just an extra i need done which i would take with me to a specialists if they were to do the service.

Its only a Renault not a rare Ferrari, just get a dealer to price it for you or a local garage - or get them to do the service for the stamp and then DIY the rest.

Thats besides the point mate just cause there cars only a Reno n not some fancy V12 machine dosnt mean that folk dont give a s**t about them i wont go near a stealer for the fact the last time my car went there it came back worse than it went in and for the fact of the storys of them takin a car in and flogging it back to the person without doing f**k all to it and charging them for new parts !

couldnt give 2 fcuks if it was only a bicycle , end of the day its something that ive bought with my money and spend a good deal of time keeping it in the condition i bought it. So to let ''mechanics'' do any work on it who tell me over a phone it doesnt need belts done or that my car was never made in yellow is not something id be happy doing.

Kinda get the feelin it dont take much to kick off on here ?

I am sure there will be more, once i get to pick my 182 up and get a bit more involved.

  Porsche Boxster987S
nothings kicking off mate , just my opinions really and my personal reasons behind NOT involving any stealerships.:)

  Astra van,Mk1 nova
I wouldnt go to a stealers either! Someone i know phoned up our local stealership and asked the service department " i drive a 182, where is my spare wheel? in the boot the guy said  20 minutes of argueing later he was informed that they didnt come with a spare wheel" never laughed so hard in my life :D

Kenny brown in Hillington dont my 5 year service, reasonabley priced ;)

Dealers are useless 99% of the time.Mainly employed because they have the gift of the gab and not because there specialists. They are there to sell to the masses and dont have 1 bit of intrest in a specialsit area.

Just wanting money tbh and a good re-sale

  LY R26
As said mate Kenny Brown in HIllington Est.

I know his boy, hes a good lad. A Formula Racing driver iirc

aye one of the boys races in formula ford.
know them too, one had a lovely toyota levin, now has a altezza with a race engine

Thats fair enough, i just see it from a different view !
I work in a long established dealership, who over the years has worked with several manufacturers. We have specialised in jap imports back in the day, we are Caterham dealer, see various modified cars, which generally dont cause any hassle to work with & we fit various performance upgrades for the manufacture we sell.
And i then hear horror storys of "parts not fitted/work not carried out" And yeah i am sure there are some garages out there who do get involved in that.
But it does not mean that every dealer employee is a thieving r****d !

Some of us do know what we are doing ;)

I have to admit though from your experience of talking to your local dealer, who suggested your car didnt need belts and argued the colour........Yeah i would be a little worried. But the issue there probably is more so that the dealer has employed front of house staff who have no training, as opposed to there tech's who will be trained.

Even the techs who have been trained are Retards and dont know what there talking bout half the time though, These are the like of Arnold Shark techs im on about

i hear what everyone is saying but nothing will change my opinion of dealers. my wee sis car has been the latest example - she asked(or my dad did) that the car had a full oil change. Funnily enough , on the day she goes to get the car its clear that no oil change has been done and the oil cap missing:S

The last time a renault dealer went near my car (when I first bought it) whatever idiot mechanic carried out the service over tightened the oil filter (genuine renault part) and burst the rubber seal, leaving the oil filter hand tight and leaving the car with quite a bad oil leak.

That'll be the last time it goes near an idiot dealership.

+1

Used to work in a dealer and I completely agree, the lads at the dealers are probably more qualified than these "specialists". It'll be interesting to see how many of these garages are still around when the Technicians Institute comes into play.

I think its funny how everyone seems to be an expert on here.

wouldnt say anyone thinks theyre an expert:S

id say its more peoples opinions which are based on past experiences or stories from others and especially the feedback on clio forums in general. If i thought i was an expert id do it myself
