Is this a Good Buy of RS 182?

Tyres are yokohama, cant tell the model but shouldn't be too bad really. Why would tyres put you off the car?

Thanks for reply Mike.. Its only I've read that the Clio 182 had tyres designed especially for it to improve handling and didnt know how much of a difference it actually makes? Just I've had cars before which come with tyres which arent very grippy..

Seems like a reasonably priced car I would say though. Would the Cam Belt be due to be replaced on car of this age and Mileage?

Yes it has to have the cambelt done 72,000 miles or 5 years which ever is the sooner.

Thanks EddyG shall give the dealer a call in the morning and ask him if its been done. Dont fancy that being the first job I have to get done to a car can think of much better things to spend the money on... like subtle mods lol

Dont get too hung up on tyres. If they are budgets on it then they wont be the worst being yoko's. If you want to change the tyres you dont need to go for the michelins (marketed as made for the clio, whether they were is another story). Hankook do decent tyres for the 182 for example, around £60 fitted iirc, so not the end of the world if you do need to upgrade.

Looks a decent buy though, just do the usual checks, there some buyers guides if you do a search :)

TBF mate if it hasn't been done, if you can get the 500 quid off for the job then you can get one of the specialist on here to do it and least you know it has been done properly. A ballache yes but peace of mind.

  Mint 1*2's for sale-
Trade price cars - essex- doesnt inspire me with confidence....

The clue is in the name- bottom dollar for heaps of sh*te-

Personally I would buy from one of the classifieds on here- plenty of nice examples

Thanks for the replys chaps.. I shall have a read through the buyers guides and also find out if the belt has been done if not as mentioned could be a negotiating point.. Hoping the guy will offer a fair price on my Suzuki Swift Sport as P/X :) After having owned a 172 and a 197 I really have the urge to be back in a RS ASAP :) Around £60 a corner is a ok price... I'll not get hung on on the Michelins out of curiosity how much do they roughly come in at a corner?

Around £120 fitted for PE3's which have replaced the michelin pe2's that came with them.

Maybe less at costco, but still £100+

I am 'guessing' & again this is from a pure looking in POV- This is one person with a small business selling cars that previous owners had no chance of selling- in my eyes you then have a lottery of whats available- a bit like buying something from an auction- occasionally a reasonable one comes up- but in the main they are Shi**ers-

If you look at that car I belt the belts arent done, the exhaust is sh*te, it looks tatty- I bet the right thumb grip is shagged- & so on..

Trade on that car is without looking ~ 3200-

Im not knocking anyone with a small business- supply & demand etc etc- however you are paying average money for a probable bottom end car-

PX wise you could sell your suzuki on ebay & get a better sale than trade price-

Something like this looked nice

>> although scrap that why the hell has it got trophy lights....

You can do better than the trade price one

I would give it time, make sure you have priced the swift at a reasonable price
and the have a look at the 182's for sale on here, some bargains and you can also look at the users profile and see how they have looked after it.

Well said Steve... The link to the Pistonheads one does look rather nice still within my budget and has the trophy seats too :)

Thanks for all your help guys. I shall indeed give the Swift a go on Ebay thanks TimmyD

I was looking at the cheaper end of the 182 market when I got mine a month ago. The same company had 2 for sale when I was looking (arctic 182, 78K ish, cup packs) (BG 182, 60K ish, non cup with nav) Both around the £3500 mark.

They seem to do quite a lot of RS.... but you have to assume they are making a profit on them so I was dubious why were they selling so cheap? Can't comment on condition or sales service because I decided against viewing (and I don't want to slate a company I haven't experienced).

A definite case of weighing up the pros and cons of dealer vs private because plenty of well looked after ones pop up on here!
