I'm sorry but you have seriously bought a lemon, my 11 year old 206 Gti that had done 90,000 hard miles had less wrong with it.

Can of petrol and a match?

  Clio 1.2 - 41k miles
All I can say mate is that really sucks and im really sorry you bought a car that has basically died... I have to agree with Ollie though my Clio is 11 years old and absolutely nothing wrong with it it's a 1.2 and has done 111,000 miles, starts first time pulls very well, solid gears... Just very unfortunate mate. Maybe if you are considering getting rid of it break it on here I'm sure a lot of people will want the parts... :(

To be fair though, none of those things are big problems really. If you had taken it to a independent specialist locally (of which there is a few good ones in your area) then they would sort those cheaply.

You're really unlucky chap! Once you get all this work done there shouldn't be much more to go wrong, apart from the gearbox, and the UCH, and the... ok, I'll shut up. :)
Part of owning a Renault unfortunately, but you've been unluckier than most. :(

  GSXR + KDX220
I was about as lucky as you with mine, a lot went wrong....expensive stuff too! At least you knows it all been done though :) touch wood

a nova c20let.. but end of the day i have spent tomuch on this car to sell. will just have to deal with it. im just gutted my throttle bodies are outta the window now, i bearly have money left for a decat and remap :(

all fairly common easy to fix issues... my engine mount gave up the other day, and I'm pretty sure the driveshafts are on the way out too. As much as it is a ball ache, it's what to expect from a little car that has spent much of it's life getting ragged.

A trader on your other thread said the main dealer might find other things wrong to bump the price up IIRC. It's just got me thinking...
They're probably genuine if they've invited you down for a look though, I suppose. How much extra is all this costing you?

brakes i bought off here yesturday.. doin myself and friend..
engine mount, think she said £80 no labour.
driveshaft, i have already paid to be done with clutch.. just neither of them was done.. i got a reciept and small claims.. but am going to try and fit the gators and grease them myself

  Clio172 / Focus Ti X
when you say the driveshaft, do you know if they meant the cv boot on the outer end? Just double check yourself,

iirc the 1*2 are a pain for spitting the cv boots off on that side (mines has) and you never know, they may be charging you for a whole shaft rather than a clip to pop it back on or worst case a new cv joint. Alot cheaper than a shaft,

By the sounds of it you have paid alot out on this car for it to be fixed, i wouldnt write off the possibility of them taking you for someone who doesnt know much about cars (no offence there btw) and trying to squeeze more money out of you other than just fix whats wrong, even if its a few quid.

keep your wits about you, even if it is dragging you down and you just want it fixed.

Hope all ends well for you mate

Aren't you the guy that bought an £800 172 and asked our opinion of where to take it to be repaired and we all suggested Birchdown or BTM but instead you ignored us and took it to a Main dealer?

Naith paid £250 for a phs1 172 and his bill from me was nearly £2K, false economy buying a cheap one!

If you buy a £800 quid car you have to expect to get your hands dirty tbf.

Non of those are big or expensive jobs listed.
