It'll polish out... (write off opinions)

  Chocolate Bar™
Really looking for people who know what they're talking about, not people who are just gonna say 3 grand lol. I reckon its def gonna be a write off as it looks like the structural points such as wheel arch have gone, not sure how easy this is to fix, but opinions welcome on value.

three pics show all the damage. wing is knackered and twisted, so that the passenger door wont open. but everything looks straight and true like suspension wheels etc. so dont think there is any underlying structural problems except from the obvious what you can see.

battery is fooked (as alarm etc. wont activate) so think the damage may well have got to the battery area in the engine bay. but there isnt really anything engine wise, just the fuses etc. iirc

anyway heres the pics...

pics are a little dark as taken on a camera phone, but if you look into the gaping hole you can see where the arch is pressing against the tyre (causing it to blow) and the structural point to the left looks like its been bent a bit :(

nasty. With the tyre area being affected, it may be a right off with the structural damage.

thats what i was suspecting. didnt look that bad when it had the post stuck in it lol

that also means i have to go and get my fooking steering wheel out of it as well :(

Sorry my post is gonna be useless but thats not half as bad as i thought it would be.

Good luck mate!

  Turbos.
Probably best they write it off, then you could just buy it back.

Where is the car now? I'd take it to an accident repairers to get the suspension, subframe etc. evaluated. A new bumper/wing/bonnet wouldn't be too expensive (£300), but getting a top notch paintjob is where you money might go.

I reckon the insurance will write it off, but i reckon you could buy it back and get a mate/family member who works in the trade to sort that relatively cheaply.

Right matey im being told what to put from a mate that owns a proper car garage in west bridgeford near nottingham.
As long as the chasis of the car is fairly straight it could be fixd. You need to strip off the body panels and look on the main structure of the car.
If you take the wing, bonnet off and see if the chasis has been pushd in to the passenger area then it might be and no go area mate as its not an easy job just to pull it back.
He wont say much more as its difficult to say just from pictures, best advise is get it to some one that knows more and can inspect the car properly...

well insurance are inspecting it on thursday, so i'll have their opinion by then. but just been speaking to neil @ fourashesrenault who will be getting back to me, saying that he could sort it. so just waiting for a ball park figure of how much it'd be, to decide whether to repair it or just let it go.

i'm with admiral, so no idea if they will let me buy it back as their documentation says that i cant. so that'll be interesting

  Chocolate Bar™
admiral will let me buy the car back, as i've just been talking to them on the phone, which is good. So i'm planning on turning it into a track **** and buying a second car :)

Not a clue on whether it's a write off or not, but doesn't look as bad as I was initially imagining.

Wheels look in good nick though. ;)

lol i know, she looked so sad sitting there :( ah well its the perfect excuse to keep her in the driveway and make her into a silly car

Wheels are mint not even kurbed lol, the tyres just burst

  Chocolate Bar™
cheers guys :), support from cliosport has really made me feel a lot better about the crash, so just hoping that the ending is a good one! in the meantime i need to get a bike of a crap car lol

Hence my PM! :)

Didn't notice the no. plate, ironic.

Hope it's all repairable, good news that they'll let you buy it back. When do you find out if it's written off?

I think you might be lucky and it won't be too much to put right. Can't believe when i saw your earlier post saying how you'd gone in to a lamp post. Hope it get's sorted, cheaply for you.
Ironic too that your avatar is of part of the car that got stuffed.

  BMW 330d :)
If the tyres burst id check that the alloys werent buckled by the force of impact against them. My cup was hit head on by some moron so i know how u feel m8. Good luck with the repairs.

I'll know by thursday if its written off or not. If it is, it'll be going straight to cliospares for a full repair, then will be fully stripepd out slammed and caged with yozza sport system cams etc. And then i'll buy a second car to tottle abuot in like a rover :)

I'd need to replace the f1's with standard ones if i took them off, but i'm planning on keeping the car anyway so not much point

  No more clio's for me!
Hope all goes to plan mark :)

Doesn't look too bad to me, so hopefully it will be a straight forward repair?

  Chocolate Bar™
isnt that straight forward when all the little bits get added in at renault prices lol.

airbox and battery are about 200quid before you start - robbing b******s :dapprove:

Why dont u just get it back on the road, instead of stripping the crap out of it? Too nice (when/if fixed) to ruin. Track the Rover instead.

easier to track the clio as not planning on spending vast sums of money on insurance as my insurance is just over 2k for my normal policy due to this crash. so idea would be to work on it over winter, and then insure it just for summer on a lesser mileage policy which is more affordable.

will take me ages to save up enough to get it repaired anyway

  C63 AMG, F430 & 172
mrk1 172 bumper is 545+vat, wing 57 + vat, bonnet i think are about £300, clips fixings £50,

slam panel, structual work, tyre, wheel, engine bits and other bits and bobs properly 400+

so say cira 1500+ in parts, then paint and labour 1500,

its gona be cat d easy

i know its no where near as bad but similar damage, including airbox and fuses as the light got pushed up into them (hard to see from photo, got it back in two weeks, only the 300 quid excess to pay until the other guy realises he cant not admit liability. . . . .

good luck with it mate, the track gokart idea sounds a good un as well!!

  Mk1 MX-5 next summer

But surely you'd have until your current policy is up, until your renewal goes up to £2k - that's an obscene amount??? How much was your current policy?? I take it you're fairly young?

  FOR SALE!!!
dont no if it will help but there is a place in stafford called body matter who could repair it for you they dont mind using 2nd hand parts etc

here a pic of the damge on my car and they said call it 300 and i buy the parts

that price was for spraying as well so quite good had look at some of the work they had done and was top class

cant really see in the pic but all the arch is fucked is bent out thought the wing etc was quite nasty what ya get from bloody lorries and then drive off

if its written off, which it will be, i wont have insurance as its cancelled in order to pay me out, which is the whole point hence i've gotta reinsure it
