Jack-D's Racing Blue 182

  RB 182
Hi guys,

After selling my Zetec-s as it was a money pit, I bought a skoda as a cheap run around but soon got bored if how un-inspiring it was to drive so set about buying a 182, which I have desired to have for a long long time.

I purchased it last weekend and so far I am loving it.

It's a 'Full Fat' 182 with FSH, cam belt change has been done and is totally standard apart from a Scorpion RS192 exhaust system.

It's also had a full front end respray so is in pretty good nick.

Plans are only minor atm:

Replace red clio badge for the new style Rs250 badge.
Replace splitter with a gloss black K-tec item.
Have a play with the bonnet as it hasn't been put back on properly after the respray.
Just generally tidy it up and get it as mint as possible.

I'm sure as I delve further into the forum I will pick up a few more things that I want to do to it.

Let me know what you think. Comments and ideas are welcome :)

Looks great, agree with the above on the bumper inserts but overwise it's spot on!

Re: Jack-D's FF RB 182

Best colour for the 182's :)

A common thing people do after a front end spray is fit these on the top of the bumper

Looking great :) You been to renault about the bonnet catch?

Thanks guys :)

I have never felt so attached to a car and I've only had it for one week!

With regards to the bumper inserts, they are definitely on my list now.

Also, the catch hasn't been sorted yet, but I do have the letter and will be booking it in ASAP.

Re: Jack-D's FF RB 182

I made the most of a sunny bank holiday Monday and got up early to take on a few small challenges, nothing major.

First of all I set about removing the 'cs' sticker from the boot and I also removed the red plasti dip from the clio badge. I have got an RS200 badge on order but the red clio badge was bugging me.

I then set about fiddling with the fitment of the bonnet.

We got it sitting a bit better, it's still not perfect and needs to shift to the left a little more.
That's on hold right now though as it's BBQ time

I also gave the car a full polish and wax for the first time this afternoon.

I feel it came up really well and the paintwork seems in really good nick, with only a few small swirls.

I also got a better picture of how the bonnet is now sitting.

Received my new style RS badge today and fitted it as soon as I got home.

If anyone would like my old clio and renault sport badges then they are free to a good home :)

Next on order is the black bumper inserts that weren't replaced after the front end respray.

Re: Jack-D's FF RB 182

Thanks guys :)

When I first got it I thought the ride height was fine, after looking at others my mind has changed and it now seems like a tractor!

In the near future I'm going to look to invest in either some cooksports or sportlines . Is there a noticeable difference between the two?

Re: Jack-D's FF RB 182

The cooksports are slightly lower than the sportlines apparently. Only just from what I can see. I've had a set of cooksports in my garage for 2 weeks, can't wait to get them fitted

I think I am going to go for the cooksports tbf.

I'll do some research to see if there's any noticeable difference in handling between the two, if not I'll be ordering some in the next month or so.

Re: Jack-D's FF RB 182

I've been toying with the idea of getting the '2.0 16v' on the bullets done in RB and have done a quick photoshop to get an idea.

It's not the best example but what do people think? :)

Re: Jack-D's FF RB 182

Good shout guys, I didn't think of that colour combo.

I've just a done another quick shop and it looks much better:

It gives the bullet more depth and also allows the RB detailing to stand out more. I think I am defo going to get that done :D

Re: Jack-D's FF RB 182

Treated the car to some new rubber today. I had a puncture on one of my back wheels so I seized the opportunity and half ditched the uniroyals that are on all 4 corners atm.

I switched the punctured tyre with one of the ones from the front and then got 2 Pirelli P Zero Nero's upfront. Looking forward to the drive home!

I'm also dropping off my front & rear diamonds and bullets to spray shack tonight to get sprayed. The diamonds are going anthracite to match the alloys and the bullets are going the same anthracite with RB writing :)

Re: Jack-D's FF RB 182

Picked up my bullets, diamonds & bumper insert stickers today, I must say Simon is a top man and it really was top service :)

I'm really pleased with them and will be fitting at some point this bank holiday weekend.

Re: Jack-D's FF RB 182

Haha, cheers man! Couldn't have done it without your input

I thought the diamonds may have felt left out, so I got them done too. Hopefully it will be nice, subtle and not too in your face.

Re: Jack-D's FF RB 182

Gave the car a quick clean this afternoon and fitted my diamonds, bullets and bumper stickers. Here are some quick phone pics :)

I'm really pleased with them and think they make a clean, subtle change to the overall look of the car.

Next up on my list is a 3/4 plate and possibly a gloss black K-Tec splitter.

Re: Jack-D's FF RB 182

Thanks mate :)

I didn't want them to be too dark as I didn't want them to be a focal point as such, just to tie the car together.

Re: Jack-D's FF RB 182

Not a huge fan of the diamonds personally but the bullets look lovely! Some nice subtle mods going on, lovely car.

Re: Jack-D's FF RB 182

I have this week off work and it's started well with the delivery of my 3/4 plate today.

1-2_zps9ab05be2.jpg

It makes a big difference compared to the tatty one that was on there before.

Hopefully, my Powerflex mounts will turn up this week too and I can finally sort out the exhaust!

  RB 182
Re: Jack-D's FF RB 182

I popped down to Renault on Friday about the bonnet catch and got that all sorted and a new one was fitted.

I also got my Powerflex exhaust mounts this week, so had a go at fitting them yesterday which didn't turn out as well as I had planned.

DSC_0527_zps64a7fa60.jpg

After a little trim and some elbow grease we got the exhaust mounts in to the brackets.

The exhausts are sitting too much to the left though and I'm not really happy with it.

Could it be an issue further down the system? Anyone shed any light?

Re: Jack-D's FF RB 182

hi mate , on these u can adjust how the bumper sits , so now instead of moving the exhaust further , slacken the bumper bolts etc and move it over slightly then tighten everything up ;)

  RB 182
Re: Jack-D's FF RB 182

Cheers mate. I'll go give that a bash now!

Hopefully it won't need moving too much, making the contours of the bumper not line up with the lights etc.
