Looking good Mark. Can't wait to see the pics of it finished and back out on the streets.
I'll be sure to post up loads beforehand most definitely afterwards too!
Hmmmm, I'm contemplating it.
More done on the RB. Starting to take shape now.
Few more pics of the wiper delete from Kill all wipers. I really like it.
This means that my painted wiper delete will be up for sale.
New plain number plates turned up from Fancy Plates. Rear is perfect but the front is wrong. I asked for 94mm high and i got sent 85mm high, like my old one. Not happy as 85mm doesn't fill the recess, 94mm does. I've tried calling them but get no answer and i've sent them an email, to which i got no response. I didn't even get a email confirmation when i ordered. Hopefully they will have seen my issue email and rectified it.
@182_steve did you have any issues when you did yours with them?
Stayed late friday and did more bits.
Gave the rear lights a quick polish up with the mop. These were in good condition but a little spruce up wouldn't hurt, especially next to new paint.
Unpolished on the left vs polished on the right. It actually has cleaned them up more than i thought. They look deeper and have more clarity now. Was worth doing i think for what time it took. You can see the difference on the tops with the left ones looking a tad dull compared to the right ones.
While in light mode, i changed the the xenon bulbs that i got off
@Craig on the headlamps. You can see upon comparison that the glass looks cleaner and has more clarity on the new ones compares to the old ones on the left. The new Ring ones are longer too, although i don't know if this makes a difference? Nice easy job, made easier when the headlamps are off the car.
Cleaned lights lineup.
While i was doing that, Will was continuing to do the cutting/polishing.
Painted the new fuel pipe/hinge/thingy! (dont know what its called!) The old one is blue but this just looks like overspray from the cap. We used the last of the blue when we did the last bits of painting, so we decided to use black as it ties in with the fuel lock and surround. TBH you dont see it when the cap is shut, and although i was unsure at first, it looks better than i thought so i'll stick with it. I used a bit of ali strip to wedge up the spring so i could paint as much as possible, so i had no beige plastic showing.
We had a stop break and ate some much needed food. Burgers with gherkins, red onions and melted cheese, with onion rings and fresh orange juice! Was sooo good!
After that we went back to it. I started fitting the fuel bits up and tidied up the workshop, while Will continued the polishing.
I will clean up the rear of the cap next week.
Sides, boot and spoiler all polished!
We both came in on saturday to continued the work and
@MrBlonde came down to do a few bits on his car and help us out too on bits.
Will polished the front bumper and i did cleaning bits ready to fit up. He then moved onto polishing the bonnet while i did the bumper work.
Washer blanks fitted
New fabia splitter fitted. I though about riveting it, but decided on using self tappers just incase it needs to be removed.
Go the bumper stickers fitted. Got Will to do it as he has a steadier hand than me. The insert was degreased before the sticker was applied. They are not exactly cut to shape, but will be fine once the car is outside. This was the best option as renault dont sell them anymore and they still look decent and OE.
Then the lower grill and badge was cleaned and fitted along with the new upper grill.
I might get a new lower grill soon. I was going to GTechniq all the plastics at a later date but unsure if the lower grill will come up decent? But that can wait for now.
Gave the front end a clean up to remove all the old wet and dry residue and old polish and then we was ready to fit the headlights and front bumper. Headlights was plugged in and fitted and we fitted the front bumper but then we realised that we forgot to fit the bumper protection pads so it had to be removed, pads fitted and then the bumper refitted!
Was very happy to see this at this point! After that we did a little bit more then called it for the day. Scuttle panels cleaned. Cleaned up the scuttle area also to remove old residue and fitted them up with new clips. We noticed that i was missing one clip. I'm unsure if it ever had one on the drivers side so we took one off the passenger side and fitted it where it was missing. Thankfully the wipers hold it all done anyway.
Wipers was fitted and lights/wipers tested and all is good. Refitted all the washer pipes and jets. Then we gave the RB a quick wipe down and we was done. I cleaned out the booth then got some pics!
Very happy at this stage. More to come but today we are having a day of rest!
