Can't wait to see this all back together. All the little bits you have noticed just shows your attention to detail. I don't reckon anyone else will even notice it!!! Excellent build.

I have just ordered the new plates. I got them from Fancy plates and have ordered 520mm x 94mm front, and the standard 520mm x 111mm for the rear, both just plain.

That's exactly the same size one I have on the front and will look spot on mate, the 94mm just fills it nicely - did you go custom plain, or just plain plates? By that I mean my custom plain ones don't have the letters and numbers on the corner as mentioned in my thread about the MOT lol!

Yeah yours is perfect. I measured the space and I thought 94mm was spot on for the recess. I hate seeing a blue surround around the current number plate because it's too slim at 85mm.

Erm, I think I ordered custom one's. Didn't think you could get standard bs numbers on them unless they was up legal, which would have been 111mm?

Yeah i guess. But also, i think that comes with owning the car in general and you spot things.

I cant wait either. Im actually looking forward to driving it once its all back on and no doubt, going for a drive to get some pics!

Somehow missed these updates, nice job on the respray, nothing like fresh paint ?

It does happen. I dont always get notified on thread updates.

Oh yes, its certainly nice to have!

Got more done on the RB. Today me and Will got into work early and made a crack on the flatting. We flatted all the panels in 2000 and then went over with a trizac 3000 pad to even it all out. He was much quicker and better than me, but having 2 people on it mad lighter work. The bonnet, boot, doors and quarterss are now flatted, ready for polishing up. There was no point doing the lower part of the car as the finish is really good and you dont notice it.

And my stack of painted parts waiting to be fitted. (Rear bumper was done a few months back so that didn't need redoing, just a clean up as its collected dust.)

I will do a few hours after work this week and hopefully it'll be near enough ready/done over the next weekend.

Ive also ordered some Ring 5500k bulbs from @Craig too so i'll fit them to the freshly polished headlamps when they arrive.

We're looking at a few £££ to get this done though James. It's just money that's not needed to be spent yet.

We are currently buying a property and there is a clause in the mortgage which is costing us more than planned so I don't want a big outlay this far in.

Maybe once the mortgage is sorted, I'll look into it.

Great updates, it looks fantastic from the pics, so I can't wait to see it in real life. It's going to look so nice!! ?

Yeah it's definitely not cheap ?

Gulp!

I'm not sure how I've completely missed this, but amazing work Mark! Looks superb!

Thanks Rob. Some hours have been out in that's for sure.

Great updates, it looks fantastic from the pics, so I can't wait to see it in real life. It's going to look so nice!! ?

We gave it a small polish in areas today and it looks good so in the flesh it'll be even better. Just need to keep on the ball with cleaning it now.

Love it.

Can't wait to see it finished.

Soon enough mate.

I reckon once done mate, try and get a mag feature?.In Performance French Magazine ?

Haha, not yet. Got to do more afterwards. Repaint engine, steering wheel refurb, etc.

^^ exactly, all that work, plus the mods already done, has to be worth it!

Maybe next year or so, but I feel I'm not ready for a feature yet.

How good is on the hard to polish areas or how perfect it is?

I'm afraid I'm not sure I understand your post mate?

You said how good are the areas on the bumper that are hard to polish. They are not good, they are perfect.

Haha, I'm with you now!

Yes he's done a fantastic job. I started to flat areas on the bumper, spoiler and moulding tonight but it really does need minimal work. I just flatted some dirt bits and that was pretty much it. I feel I'll be flatting it for no real reason. I don't want it looking like glass as it never left the factory like that. I want a factory finish.

We didn't even get rid of all the ripples down the doors as they are press marks. It's not a show car, it's a clean daily. The dents are gone though.

We will still give it a cutting polish and finish. We started that process tonight.

@Marky_ I hope so. (It being fresh looking, not you being jealous!)

More work done on the RB. The side bullets are now primered and waiting a colour. I did choose Ford Polaris Grey (the same as my engine) but i had a slight doubt, so i tested it on a spare old bullit. In certain lights it looked ok, but it looked to dull in others so i decided not to use it.

Nice and light here, which is what i like

44466071394_49218936f5_z.jpg

But too dark and dull here, next to RB paint too

44466074454_45b879c1e5_z.jpg

The pics don't really show its true colour as it was quite light in the booth. Once outside, it looks a lot darker. I wanted a silver of some sort. I went into halfords to see what they had and i settled on Renault Iceberg silver. Did a test piece on a strip of aluminium (no pics) and it looks like what im after so i'll go with that. Plus it's a little homage to my old Iceberg PH1. I will use proper laquer on it when we paint my remaining RB bits.

I have also decided to get some Toyota Super White 040 for the 2118 center caps. I previously had Ford Frozen White but felt it was a tad creamy. This looked to be slightly whiter. Hopefully it is but we shall see. I will do these soon with the can (Halfords again) i have and then use proper lacquer as above, when the last RB bits are being done.

Did some polishing tonight. This is the cutting stage and even now it looks great. Really happy seeing it starting to take shape.

Passenger side done

Drivers wing done

30293237597_2b13e3d703_z.jpg

Long process, especially after a days work, but nice to see the slick results. As i said, this is the 1st stage, it'll look even better once we put on the finishing polish on it ?

I ordered some new Ring D2S bulbs for my newly polished headlamps from @Craig as he was selling some. I also ordered some liquid wax too to help with the new paint. I love Poorboys stuff due to its ease (and it smells great!) They turned up today and as a little treat for being a good customer, he chucked in some Poorboys QD and some Ring 501 bulbs. Absolute top bloke. Joking aside, he has been very good to deal with and he's prices was awesome. Have a look at he's bits for sale as i recommend him and he's service. Thanks again mate!

My kill all wipers kit came today and it looked decent. Better than expected actually so i decided to fit it.

You get sealer and a fitting guide that is unique to the mk2 clios, not a universal one. And the sticker/logo is right in the middle of the rear hole if you have a stripped car so you can see it. Looks like time has gone into the kit. Ignore the marks, that is degreaser that's wiped the excess sealer. We degreased it so its all washed into the groove and neatly finished. Will get a better pic later on.

Got the last of the RB bits painted and got the bullets done too.

Im thinking of doing the dash strips and clock bezel in the same iceberg silver now after seeing the bullets. This will be date at a later date if i do decide to do so. Hopefully, more polishing tomorrow.

I’m gonna be quite sad once your car is all back together and you stop posting p**n like this☹️[emoji23]

I'm sure I'll be posting 100s of pics still!

The Iceberg Silver looks great on those bullets!

Yeah I'm happy with the colour choice. Looks clean too.

Fantastic effort going into this. Keep it up.

Cheers Dave.

s**t hot!!!

Thanks Craig!

Unless i've missed it, when is it going back together?

I'm hoping it's all done by mid next week. Was aiming for this weekend but it'll just be past that.

Its coming together great. Paintwork looks awesome

Thanks Jon.
