Jimbob's Black Gold 182

Still undecided on wheel colour, gave the car a clean yesterday and the colour of the alloys really impressed me

Just looking at the photos of the alloys again that I put on, it shows them as being darker than they really are - they've definitely got a lighter tint to them, especially when in the light/sun

Took a couple on the phone (kerbing and all lol) which strangely seems to show them a bit better :

Mate saw them today and much preferred them in real life to the original photos I sent him (where they appear darker), and he summed it up perfectly :

"If you want it to stand out and be different, go for the same colour again. It's the sort of thing which will catch people's eye more, rightly or wrongly.
If you want it to look really smart, and keep the clean looks of the car, go anthracite, which the majority of people would probably approve of more"

So guess its whether I want to stand out more, or keep the car smart looking haha

Only change worth noting is fitted a smaller plate on the front - went for 90mm as it feels the recess well, and hopefully less chance of being pulled for it

Couple of pictures I quickly took with my mate's twingo before the light started fade :

And one of my mate's Twingo, nice looking car (now it's been lowered imo) and handles amazingly :

Looks smart dude. Liking the colour of the wheels, stands out well and suits it imo.
Thanks! The wheels need a refurb, and I was originally thinking of going anthracite - however I'm leaning towards getting them done the same colour as they currently are

And those who have seen them in real life say they look better than in the photos, so that can't be a bad thing!

Nice pics

Both cars looks great

White twingo's are awesome
Cheers buddy, got to admit it is an awesome little car, just a shame it doesn't have as much power as the 182 - would be amazing then

Haven't updated this for a while, and got a few spare minutes so thought I'd give it a quick update now our internet is finally back,

Not much has happened to the car, all this s**t weather and living out in the countryside doesn't help, as the car gets filthy literally after 1 mile

Only things worth mentioning I guess would be that I fitted some more Carbon Fibre goodies - Washer Blanks and Rear Windscreen Wiper Surround

182 Alloys are back on, and the Turinis will be getting refrubed and some new rubber fitted all around - Undecided to give Goodyears F1 Asymmetric 2's a try, or stick with Michelin PS3's which I've currently got on the front already....

Going to give her a good service shortly (Spark Plugs, Filters and Oil) along with a Gearbox Oil change as I doubt that's ever been done!

Time for an update I feel! Apologies for the load of photos, just thought it hopefully should provide proof of work for a self service (along with the purchase receipts)

I've done 6000 miles since I've had the car in my ownership, so thought it was time to give her some love and give her a full service

So went for all Genuine parts from RenaultPartsDirect which included ; Spark Plugs, Air Filter, Oil Filter, New Wipers, Inlet Manifold Gasket, Elf 5w-40 Engine Oil, Elf 75w-80 Gearbox Oil and Renault Type D Coolant

Still got the Gearbox Oil to do, and also the Coolant

Did you go for the red again then? Now I see why you know what carbon looks like  Cars looking good!
Cheers buddy! Haha yeh, got a few carbon bits, can't beat a bit of carbon fibre!

Got to update it all a bit, but wheels are going plain old boring anthracite, new tyres are here and they'll be going in to get refurbed this Thursday hopefully!

So a little update, along with some new goodies for the car;

Whiteline Rear ARB, bought one brand new as couldn't find one secondhand

Really pleased with it, definitely seems to have improved the handling - only got it on the soft setting at the moment, but may experiment at a later date

Oh, and the wheels have gone in for a refurb, along with 4x new Michelin PS3's 195/45/16's to be fitted to them :

Colour as of yet is undecided, but it will be a shade of Anthracite/Dark Grey #turinisheep

Turinis have been refurbed, and brand new Michelin PS3's fitted

Was going to go anthracite/gunmetal but everyone does that, and wanted something subtle yet slightly different from the norm

Refurbed Alloys by Jimbob_2705, on Flickr

Really pleased with the colour, the silver sparkle really comes out in the light!

Will be fitted on Friday with a few other little bits, so should be a nice change!

Thanks both for the kind words - nice to hear it!

@Dr Jekyll I'm in two minds whether I'd go for a black car again, it just gets dirty far too easy and shows the marks - not ideal when you live 7 miles into the country side haha
Saying that when it's clean it makes it worth having a Black car!

182 Alloys were OK, but just fancied a change - admittedly not breaking any new ground by going for Turinis, as it has been overdone....but there's a reason why!

Went up to Elan Valley with a bunch of mates today :

Clio did me proud - well impressed with it! It really does handle fantastically with the Rear ARB, Cooksport Springs, Cup Suspension, Michelin PS3's and Spacers....

The amount of people saying how well it handled and how good it sounded was unbelievable, really did make my day!

Photo's are looking on point buddy.

Still unsure whether to consider selling up, these cars have so much potential.
Thanks Joe, nothing stunning as it was pretty much point and shoot

As you'll know Joe I was honestly thinking of changing for something else, as it wasn't quite 'scratching the itch' as they say, but after this trip out I've seriously changed my mind - it's really reignited a spark with it

The roads up there were so well suited to the Clio, and it really did show - the amount of people I had comment on the handling was unreal. A Integra DC2 owners said he couldn't even get close in the corners, and it kept up with a 300bhp Astra VXR and new Fiesta ST no problem on the roads up there - to the point where I was having to slow down on the corners for them to go around haha

The Integra and a Type R (EP3) owner both commented how well it went on the straights, and could keep up but certainly weren't catching...even kept up with a 270bhp Focus until very stupid speeds

People just weren't expecting it I don't think, when they're running almost twice the power and there's this little Clio stuck behind them in their rear view mirror haha - adds to the appeal

Now looking into some better seats as fed up of almost falling out of them lol

My advice Joe is to take the Clio out on some good roads which suit it, and you'll soon realise how good it is! If you ever want to go for a drive, drop me a message

My favourite kind of photo! :tongueout:
I occasionally give it some beans coming back and forth from work (purposely go the longer route just to hit the B roads), and I do really love the car, even on bad tyres! I think I'm more leaning towards refreshing the belts/dephaser as it's due, then fitting some 197 cams while I'm at it, enjoy the car a little longer!

I've just noticed you're only from Hereford, if that's correct? Not too far from me, used to work up that way! I'll definitely be in touch this Spring about a meet up/drive, @josh11490 is close by too, and has a BG!

I'd say get the belts done, as you should see the majority of the money back from it if you did go to sell it anyway! 197 cams sounds a good idea since your getting them done, and hopefully you should be able to pick some up at a half decent price - I've always fancied 438's but it's not worth it when my belts don't need doing it

Yes buddy, I live halfway between Abergavenny and Hereford, right on the South Wales Border! (Luckily on the English side though haha)

Definitely keen to have a meet up and a drive, drop me a message when suits you, and if Josh is keen as well! Be good to get some photos with 3 BG's haha

No major updates, but it had an MOT today

Thought I better give it a quick clean as it was absolutely stinking!

That's the standard MOT photos out the way!

Main thing it sailed through the MOT with no advisories, happy days!!

Need to give it a general tidy up, polish and get badges re-dipped as the carbon is peeling on them...

That's a really nice car mate
Cheers buddy, few bits needed to get it all together and as tidy as I'd like, but mechanically it seems spot on (touch wood!)

Just working out what I'm going to do next, I keep thinking of changing to something else but as soon as I get into the Clio my mind changes, and the fact I'm 19 (almost 20), trying to insure anything much quicker is proving to be very expensive!

Ended up buying these yesterday:
image.jpeg

Need a good clean and a general tidy up, but I bought them at a half decent price so don't mind spending a bit of time on them

Think I'm going to get the Airbage Module for my RS Tuner (so I can turn the side airbags off) rather than going down the resistor route, which looks a load off faff and over my head...
