just been to look at mk3 1.2 turbo (pics)

maybe thinking of upgrading to a mk3 in the future, so went to have a lookie at the 1.2 turbo tonight, didnt drive it though

have to admit, in the flesh it really did looking stunning, especially in this colour, its just a shame the pics dont do it justice (samsung u600)

it isnt the model i would get, as it is way to expensive, but i would probably think about the 1.6 when the prices have dropped for 2nd hand ones

lovely interior aswell

I guess the turbo is there just to make it go. Must weigh about 3 tonnes no way a 1.2 engine alone could make it move.

Is that the '1.2 sport' equivalent then? Looks quite aggressive :)
Surely it doesn't have a turbo though...

looks like a lovely colour, but what is the god forsaken point in a 1.2 turbo that ways tonnes??

The Twingo will have that engine though, so that may work.

Plus i'm thinking if someone made a remap you may see around 120bhp and if the Twingo is alot lighter, that may be fun.

I'm hoping the rumours about a 1.6 RS Twingo next year are true. It's also supposedly going to be roughly 130bhp too, which should make it a pretty nippy little thing. Let's hope the guys that have been invited over for previews come back with some exciting news. ;)

Personally speaking I wouldn't bother with the 1.6. I had a test drive in the 1.6 Dynamique S, and to say it feels like a sluggish, wollowy old bus is abit of an understatement. In my opinion it's horrible!

Tis going to replace the 1.4 and 1.6 relatively soon. I drove a 1.4 the other day - what an awful car to drive...slow, awful gearchange and it wallowed at 30. I wasn't keen lol.

100bhp iirc

Are you talking the 1.6 or the 1.2 turbo?

I agree that the interior is rather nice on the new clio, except for two things. The ashtray looks like a plastic cup with a lid on it that just sits in the cup holder. In time that is going to rattle about like a b**ch, so that would have to go. The other daft thing is where they have put the cigarette lighter. It's behind the handbrake. It's totally inpractical for smokers and a darn silly place to have it when you want to plug in your sat nav. It means you are going to have your sat nav cable running from the back to the front. How bloody annoying is that?

these are good cars! test drove a few now. They are bloody nippy for what they are, you can feel it when the turbo kicks in. The 1.2 turbo has the mpg of a 1.2, the power of a 1.4 and the torque of a 1.6.but they are a bit on the expensive side for the public.

thats so freaking high and the car looks massive, think if you stood that next to a mk1 clio it would look ridiculous!!!

is the engine bassed on a d4f 1.2 16v or is it a different engine? if it is then it could be a nice little power boost for a mk2, my 82bhp 1.2 16v was quite nippy with 100bhp and possibly 120ish with a remap and exhaust it would be quite a fun little car.

will be good in the twingo since its bassed on the mk2 chassis iirc so will handle

I test drove one of these yesterday, and compared to my 1.2 16v 55 plate, it's next to no better. Wheter this is down to the SX having only 19 miles on it and mine having 26000 I can't say.

The gearbox was very nice however and the car in general was much more smooth than mine. I rarely say this (mine being only just 2 years old) but mine felt much more tinny and poorly built in comparison, and also feels every bump.

The looks are special. The one in particular I looked at was parked behind a 1.2 bog standard, and just looked a different class, although thats where the 11,200 price tag comes from. The skirts, wheels, bumpers and parts of the interior are all modifications compared to the standard, problem is, you pay a lot for it.

Having driven it and been given the sales spiel, I can't say it's worth all that money. It's not fast, or "nippy" like the old clio, even mine feels much more nimble and agile. I do think however it's a massive improvement in looks over the bog standard tat which just looks hideous. I'm going back in 6 months as it happens to see what sort of price they can do me then. Insurance is a big killer on me and I only have to drive 2 miles there and back to work of a day, so I don't need bigger engines in any case. It's a cool looking car and if the price is right in 6 months who knows.

Just my 2 penneth.

How did you find the size? When I saw it across the forecourt it didn't seem much different, but standing beside it looking in it seemed so tall. When inside it was even bigger, the salesman called it "Shoulder room". theres just acres of space in front of your face, and I sit quite forward as I'm short, it still seemed so roomy!?
