Just bought a ph1 172!

Been looking for one for ages, finally one popped up close by. Went and looked at it friday and was impressed, went back today for a test drive and all seemed really good, i've left a deposit so the car is now mine!! So happy!

Its a 2000 titanium silver, i think its got the ally bonnet as it felt light but i havent felt a normal one so cant compare.

79k with full service history, and completely standard barring a longlife hidden stainless system.

All for £1900.

Ruddy bargain me thinks!

Its got a FSH mostly renault with all the paperwork to proove. Cambelt was done at 60k.

lol!

Current plans are:
ph2 rear lights
ph2 coded side strips
coded handles
low on coilovers
decat
rstuner
matched inlets
itg panel with some uprated feeds
sparco ring wheel possibly
possibly ph2 rear bumper
hid's
megane splitter

want to change the wheels but not sure to go for a straight respray in gunmetal, or try the cups on. Would love some nervasports but 17 is maybe a bit large.

did this quick shop on another 172 with the cups - doesnt look terrible imo, but doubt i'll go down that route.

Thats just like mine! Paid same sort of money for it. Belts all new but had no history with it. Have put new tyres on last couple of weeks, Toyo T1-R's. also replaced mid section of exhaust, two rear hubs and discs, also had to replace one of the rear bearings as it was faulty. Made up with the car now! Fantastic fun to drive!

Well i've just picked it up and drove it home.

Really impressed. Feels like a much more mature car to drive than the valver, albeit with less drama when you put your foot down, its definately quicker however.

Only thing that concerns me slightly is that it pulls to the left slightly under heavy acceleration. Is this a common problem?

Off for a wee drive now to see whats what!

Torque Steer sounds like?

Could be the steering Geometry needs done or maybe a calliper needs re-aligned perhaps?

It shouldn't pull to the left under acceleration! I'd get the tracking and geometry checked if I was you! Mine is straight as a die under hard acceleration.

Its only noticeable on very straight roads under heavy load, around the mid range of the rev band. There's no wobbles or shake at speed to suggest tracking.

One other thing, there is a a fair bit of axle tramp in 1st, was always used to flooring it in the valver if i wanted to shoot off, but in this i have to apply the power really gradually in order for it to not shake like a b**ch. Normal?
