Just bought a X1950XT

I keep reading reports that the ATI's need a normal power load of 30amps on the rail and this one looks to have a max of 31a.

Do you think this is gonna be powerful enough to run the new card without problems?

Just leave it benchmarking overnight, it i's stable then no prob, if it BSOD's then you know you got issues.

Well, I was confident until I started reading Saphire ATI forums which seems full of people saying they've had lots of cards die due to under powered especially the XT range. They all seem to be pushing 800watt 40amp rail power supplys that cost the same price as my 182

Thought they where talking s**t - wanted real life advice not overclocking/power hungry PC users

My 1900 xtx runs fine on my 580w Tagen psu and has done for almost a year now

A struggling power supply can become unstable and the output can fluctuate. A PSU in such a state can, and often will, fry hardware.

its best to get a good quality power supply - one of the most underrated components!! mines a hiper modular 580Watt and its brilliant for £50 and it powers my x1900xt flawlessly

Had to splash out more money and get a better one:

Thats still a pretty weak rail compared to others around the same price. Why are you buying from QuietPC. They are over priced and those PSU's look awfully like some mid range ones we bought at work for about £30 with the same Rail, Look and Wattage rating!

On what basis did you conclude that is a quiet crap one? used one before? review?
