Just had a letter from Renault.................

  6/468 17poo
Got home the other night and had missed the postman for a recorded delivery letter, had no idea what it was so flew down to the post office.......

Basically says that the bonnet may flip up and to go straight to a main dealers to get it checked as a product recall, bearing in mind that this was on watchdog like 3years ago, they have taken their time to send it no wonder it was sent recorded!

Anyone else got it recently? Is it worth the trip to the stealers or is it a push to get you in there so they find something else wrong with the car to get money?

I had mine ages ago. They did it when they serviced the car. They grease the catch.

They seem to send them round to every new registered keeper, i had one and my mum had one when she had the car before me.

I got one for my old clio but can't get it checked as its on SORN atm.

Not had one for the 172 yet, bought it in November so will get that checked when the letter comes.

Well had it over a year now and only just had a letter lol, may take it in one day this week then, says they do a general safety check too, was just shocked it was 'recorded delivery'

they changed the catch completely on mine, now you pull the lever towards you rather than up.

The also do a 10 point safety check for free (goodwill)

iirc they've started putting a whole new mech on them, rather than just greasing them.

Mine's got a nice shiny new one, which the decided to cover with copper grease lol

Will they do the new one while you wait?

I've got a Renault I could pop into on my lunch break.

big load of those letters got sent out last week...

i also seen a few recall letters from masseratti..???

I had one of these too, which I had to pick up form post office, they did send me one a few years ago, but I ignored it. Never had a problem and I am capable of putting some WD40 on it when I fill the water bottle. I'm giving the Clio to my other half shortly so will get it done to make her feel happier. When my parents took theirs renault broke the hazard switch whislt doing the (goodwill) safety check.

Mine was rusted to fook, got it replaced.

If there's any sign of rust they'll replace it, otherwise if your catch looks brand spankers its either been done already or you're just lucky.

Also, there's 2 massive threads on this if you had an ickle search ;)

And it's from MK2PH1 right through to MK2PH4 (before the Campuses) I believe

i've had 3 of those letters now last two being recored delivery.

suppose i should really go there to save them keep sending it

ive just bought my clio 2months ago and the catch is rusty and can sometimes struggle to open, i havnt had a letter if i ring up my local renault you think they could change it without me having a letter?

It's really easy. I shall explain...

Whether you have had a letter or not, Renault have issued a recall on ALL clio 2's. Drive to your Renault dealer, tell them you would like your bonnet release checked. Its not going be a suprise to them, they know all about it. The work is done for free.

And no, you don't have to wait for a letter.

Had my letter on Friday, in to Renault on Saturday no appointment, changed there and then, they even cleaned the car inside and out, cant fault the service tbh.

My catch still needs replacing. It wont fly up as long as its regularly lubricated with WD40 or similar. I also have a Nissan Primastar thats new, and the catch is identical to the clio. The only reason they flew up was lack of maintenance. The metal gets rusty and gets stuck in the plastic housing. If its well oiled its fine.

Grandparents received that letter, something about incorrect torque on the ball joints iirc

Any recalls for Clio III's yet??
