K-Tec Launch Carbone Lorraine Race Kits

  Clio 1.8 16v
Just to let you guys know we have now received into stock our first shipment of Carbone Lorraine Race pads (RC6) coupled with our KTR XDRILL Discs. We have had these pads on forum members cars as well as our own to test them (you know who you are!;)) and we can safely say they leave everything we have tried far behind.

If you want to find out more about this range you can check out our website or look here:
http://www.carbonelorraine-motorsport.com/e_index.html

We have set up some special introductory prices, but if you give us a call we will do a cliosport special and deliver for FREE! (Saves another £11.75!) Prices per pad set alone will follow shortly.

Remember these are Race Kits ;) and not Road Legal as the pads are not R90 approved, but then neither are Yellow Stuff or Ferodo DS2500's. R90 means that the pad performance is within 15% either way of the OE pad, these exceed this by a long way and WRC's Sebastian Loeb would agree.

Fasten seat belts tightly, these brakes work!

I will have to agree, i use it on my scooby and they work absolute wonders, proper pads for proper braking. Where stock pads would fade after 1-2 hard application, and 'track' pads after 5-6, these have taken constant back road abuse and from 160mph to standstill.

Good work if you comissioned the making of the mk2 clio pads!

i use them day to day, but they do squeeeeeeeeeeeeel at slow speed, ear piercing for the pedestrians.

But i quite like the noise.

Sound like PF97's

Can you get them without those discs and in pairs?

Sorry to be numb but if the pads arn't road legal will the car fail an MOT ?

I have DS2500's on mine and wasnt aware of this.

Bugger I have just got new pads and discs all round for the car, but was speaking to one of the guys at work who has a 205gti who was talking about these pads, and saying how amazing they are.

I also know a guy who has a fully prep WRC Spec Focus who has only ever used these pads, and after been taken out for a spin in the car and for him to be going at 110mph down to 0 in a matter of feet is quite amazing.

Heard some really good feed back on the braking of these pads and the fact that you really need to be riding the brakes to get them to even start to show signs of fade.

Will defiantly be getting a set of those once the new ones are worn.

Maz dont worry about MOT as long as you have enough meat on them it wont make a difference. The reason they are not ROAD LEGAL is due to the European Standards which are enforced more in Germany (TUV) as opposed to the UK.

I would be very suprised in the MOT centre would even notice that your pads are non R90 Appoved, it not that easy to see the markings on the pad once a bit of dust has settled on them.

On some tests we got a low speed squeek on first application of pressure but then disappeared after 300 miles or so, but these went on to used discs, new flat faces should eliminate this.

Tom - Sets are available without discs, prices will be up on the site shortly.

I use Carbone Lorraine pads on my road bikes, and they are spot on.

So going by that, i'll try and get some for the Clio next pad change.

Well as promised we have now updated the site to offer the pads on their own. As you would expect you get what you pay for and cliosport members still get their discounts on the offer prices.

How do these compare to my current setup of Pagid Blue pads and Brembo High Carbon discs?

Would a combination of the pads, and the brembo discs be even better?

  RS Clio 200
lol true Mark.

was just windering whether the vented/drilled discs would be a vital part of why these dont fade

Sean, I bought these from you and must say the car stops alot quicker and so far I have not suffered from any brake fade, unlike the standards which were absolutley crap when driving the car hard for a couple of minutes.

The only problem I am having with them is the horrendous brake squeel.

As quoted you say they squeek on the first application of braking but this should die away after 300 miles. I put new brembo max groove discs along with the pad but am having very violent squeels from them still after about 500 miles when braking lightly or coming to a stand still.

I have already spoke to Fred about this and he gave me some good recommendations which I carried out (ie thorough clean up of the carrier and a good greasing) but still have the same problem.

I wouldn't mind if this was a light squeel, but the squeel I get can be heard miles away!

When I first fitted them I didn't absolutly hammer them until they were properly bedded in. Recently as the squeel was really peeing me off I gave them a very hard hammering (thats when I come to see you Ben, nice quiet roads that way) but the noise didn't go away.

When they are stone cold the pads are perfect with no noise at all untill they start getting to normal temperature.

I know these are race pads, but I really need to stop those violent squeeks.

Are the Ferrodo's the same?

Please help.

Do a track day on them and they will stop squeal for a mouth or so. The only time mine stop squeal was after being used on track. The ferrodo's are squeal free and a good pad.

  Clio 172 Cup
thanks, i think you have told me that before (with regards to the trackday)!

well i have a track day on the 13th July, if they still squeel after that will change to ferrodo's.

  M2 Competition
My ferodos squeal like a banshee. Especially at low speeds, and have been on track.

You at bedford on the 13th mate?

  M2 Competition
Yus :) we'll have to compare pads, see what you think of the ferodos.

What else you running with them? Currently on brembo hc's, but got a set of brembo max sitting on my floor to go on.

Edit - apologies to ktec for the off topic, pm if you like mate.

they are almost as bad as performance friction 97 pads but the up side is they are cheaper the down side is they are not quite as aggressive as the pf 97's but they are a good second place and they do fit most people's pocket .
