K-Tec Panel Filter or Standard Renault Filter??

  172 Flamer
Hi all, my Ph 2 172 has a standard Renault panel filter. Is it worth upgrading to a K-Tec Racing panel filter or will there be no difference at all and just a waste of money? If there is any difference, is it sound, throttle response, mpg, performance etc?

Thanks

no difference. maybe 1-3bhp but you wont notice it. Will sound the same. But if youve got money then the ktec/piperx one is the best one.

I had an ITG panel filter in mine. £50 for a lifetime guarantee, only needs oiling once a year so thats £10 or £15 per year you'll save on having the paper one replaced.

Doesnt make much difference, a little bit more suction noise, breathes a bit better top end when the mph gets into the big numbers ;)
At least you know you have a top quality product in there.

They supply air filters to some of the F1 teams including RenaultF1

Wont really make any difference, if you have some cash try get JMS induction set up! Had and ITG on mine an never noticed the difference really!

you can hear a difference with k&n so i would have thought you would hear it with K-tec too.

the normal filter works, if the car is used heavily a lot it can end up distorting a bit in the middle which will lose you a few horses, get the better one id say

a knn panel filter make no difference to sound, ive got one and a standard paper. The filter is still housed in the air box with long air feeds on so induction noise is very minimal. Youl only hear a difference with open cone or if you remove the air feeds to the box.

Keep it clean, paper or replacement to maintain air flow. Ive always felt have to oil a filter or clean a non-disposable filter may not be as good as a fresh new paper filter?

I am sure I am wrong though.....

No difference between a renault or aftermarket filter. Only advantage is you can re-oil a foam filter

youl know better than me in terms of standard then, i drilled and smoothed the box prior to fitment

I wouldnt bother with the ktec filter personally, the std paper elements work fine. We also saw practically FA difference with the r25v6 box (same as jms kit). Its just noisier.
