Key in ignition for brakes?

Should the key be left in the ignition when changing pads and/or discs aswell? If this is correct, at what position, ie. off or another position.

I've heard if key not left in, it can damage the abs pump. Is this right or a load of rubbish?

Only thing i can think is if your pushing the calipers back in and you need to allow fluid through the abs pump. But i've never been told it or seen it needing the key.

Think it's only to do with the steering lock tbh.
Correct, makes no difference to the hydraulic side of things at all. I leave the key in but the ignition off just to keep the steering lock off so I can spin the hub to get to the bolts more easily.
