Knocking noise after fitting 17s...

  Breaking A 172 Replica
Just fitted some 17s to my 1.2 dynamique...

To start with they were fine then after about 30 mins driving when I take corners (even slight bends) there is a knocking noise. This also happens with braking and even when I ease off.

What the hell is this?

Any help much appreciated?

P.S. I also got stuck in a field the other day (with my old alloys) and the car was resting on the bottom of the engine bay as the wheels span so much. It was then pulled out by a tractor, but as the toe eye snapped by the bar at the bottom near the front of the engine bay.

You got the right spigot rings on them? Spigot rings fill the gap between the wheels and the hubs so they don't wobble around on the hubs. The 17s probably have a larger hole in the middle that the hub size.

Definetly got the right spigots.

Take it from 73.1 to 60.1 IIRC.

It seems to be getting worse now...

Any ideas?

Rubbing on the arches/bolts in the arches?

As said before check the bolts are done up tight, check the bolts are in the right holes if they're multi-fitment?

Yeah bolts deffo in right holes...

They are multi fit and the bolts are in the holes that are closest to the centre as the other ones are for 108 I assume?

Unless this is the problem.

Could the other holes be less than 100PCD?

The thing that worries me is its a regular knocking... its not JUST when i go over bumps

Suspension? ball joint?

Are they not marked with the PCD? Mine are multifit and have a 100 and a 98 with a little arrow going to the holes.

Hmm, not sure when it comes to suspension, could be driveshafts? Sorry I can't be more help mate.

Check the fitment though.

I reckon they might be 100 and 98 and me having them in the smaller holes means I have them in the 98 holes?

Although there does seem to be a big difference between the two PCD which makes me think maybe they aren't...

How do I find out?

Ok, changed all wheels over made sure all spigots are tight and snug...

I am sure it is not the wheels that are causing the problem now.

It is a regular grinding when I turn the wheel, especially bad when I turn to the right. I can feel it through the steering wheel big time now as well!

Any ideas?
