ktec carbon splitter or the origional plastic cup one?

  RB Clio 182
Im ordering a new front splitter soon but im undecided in between the ktec carbon one or the standard cup pack one.

At the moment i have the skoda one fitted but i dont like it due to it having to be trimmed off at the ends and not being a perfect fit.

Id like the standard plastic cup one but the ktec carbon one is around the same price, which is a lot better quality materials for the money, although i probably prefer the standard one tbh.

Which do you think i should go for?

Dont say keep the skoda one because imo it looks s**t.

If it was me, I'd be going for the standard cup one.

The carbon one does look good, but I think you'd need carbon elsewhere to pull it off properly. I have also heard the carbon ones chip quite easily so don't look so good after a while.

I'd go carbon, they stand out more than standard cup ones.

I've recently refurbished mine with wet and dry and laquer. Looks decent.
Mine was already worn down when I got my car.

If you have a pretty low car though I wouldn't like to risk scraping it. Mines not really low (eibach sportlines) and I've scraped that a couple of times :(

Ive also heared this, thanks mate :)

Im leaning towards the standard one, as above the carbon one might look out of place with no other carbon parts which would bug me. Ive also heard that the chip quite easily.

Carbon one is a little shorter each end isnt it? If your picky on the current one bot being flush then that may annoy you?

I know its not much of a mod but things like this really bug me if theyre not right, i think the carbon one will look better to start off with and im very careful over speed bumps etc, although the origional one will last longer and look more oem, i just cant decide, its such a simple mod too lol.

Cup.

CF one just wouldn't suit the freshness of your car.

I'm on my third ktec splitter. In a year and half. I'm sure a cup one is better value in the long run. Isn't as fragile.

Hard oe to call tbh. Arctic looks really good with the carbon one and I personally prefer them but I think the standard one would suit it more, judging by the looks of your car and the way you modified it/freshened it. As mentioned after a while the carbon ones chip and can look rather tired. Also they do fall a little short on the ends. Only by a few mm so its hardly noticeable but the cup one does fit better. Get the carbon one caught and it will crack, whereas the standard one is stronger imo.

I've witnessed the standard one shattering.

Carbon one will look fine on your car too. I don't have any other carbon on mine.

Here's what mine looked like before I refurbished it. Not managed to get some pics of it afterwards as its in my mates garage.

On the last pic you can see how it's a little shorter on each end.

That's never bothered me in the slightest though.

Cup splitter all the way, carbon looks good for a while but they are so fragile and get stone chipped really easily.

I think that's true. I know the streamline ones are better quality and very slightly slimmer than the ktec ones. Only downfall with them is the waiting list :(

The ktec carbon one isn't actually carbon iirc.
Its just fibre glass with a carbon fibre sheet over the top.

Ye they are fibreglass with carbon over the top.

Had my car for over nearly 18 months now and it was like that when I bought it.

I'll get pics up over the weekend when I grab it back off my mate

Thanks for all the replys guys, i think im going for the standard cup one, i do really like the carbon one but the cup one is the best option for me.

I do really like them both but ill stick with the oem one to be safe.

Tom.
