KW Variant 2 coilovers Installation Help and a Solid Top Mounts advice

  clio 172
I'm going to fit these on the weekend.

Which parts of the original shocks do i need to re-use ? ive took all of the top mount pieces off but not sure if i need to use all parts of them or just the rubber part ant the top part ?

also is it worth getting solid top mounts ? Which one to get, seen the k-tec ones and the ast ones

I'm going to possibly fit these today. Been in two minds of selling the car ! Just dont know if I'm going to get much time to use it !

Am i right that i use the standard top mounts as how they were originally ?

the little metal piece sits on top the the metal bearing sits underneath then this al goes on top of the purple alloy part of the KW shock ?

I just want to check if this is correct or does the purple alloy part just sit directly underneath the rubber part without the bearing part ?

I just imagine the purple alloy part is going to get scratched like hell with the metal bearing part sitting on top ?

any advice would be great

I keep changing my mind ! I bought all this stuff then i had secong thoughts !

I'm just thinking i spent £1350 on these and am i really going toi get the use out of these !

Its going to go to demon tweeks to get set up. i was just going to fit them ready.

Imight just leave it to them and put the standard shocks back on.

f**k off that large nut on the KW's, its just a transport nut

the entire top mount then fits to the top of the KW, bearing, rubber, spacer and nut (make sure the purple spring hat slides over the shock tube and locates properly)

Cheers fred, i thought this was just to keep it all in place.

Does the bearing scratch the purple spring hat when steering ? I just didnt want to fit prior to asking ?

I just thought with it being nice and anodized its abit of a waste !

whats your opinion on solid top mounts fred ?

AST one worth it and do you sell them ?

i thought it would, its just me being silly but i'd rather check before steaming ahead !

Anyone advise on the rear shocks KW variant 2. There are two black rubber type pieces on the shaft with a big washer and nut.

I'm assuming these are endstops in place of the renault ones on the original rear shocks as these do not fit onto the KW shaft as these have a thicker shaft.

Ive used in place of the original renault ones on the standard suspension as they do not fit on the rear suspension shafts

ive took the top black rubber one along with the washer and nut off and inserted the shock in place and put the black rubber on the shaft and put washer and nut and tightened.

still seems alittle high on the lowest setting, not sure if this will drop alot more once driven plus theres no weight in the rear.

Have you read the fitting instructions?

They are inside the envalope that came in the box. It explains what you need to keep off your existing kit and what you dont need.

doesnt say much about the rear in there booklet or have any diagrams. Not really clear either, ive just assumed the rubber pieces on the shaft are in place of the renault ones.

Hmm it's quite confusing, the ones for my 200 had decent instructions with what bits to change. :(

Not sure if this could solve your problem, but on the 200 you need to drill the bushes out to 10mm so they fit on the KW damper shaft.....

maybe thats whats required on mine doesnt mention anythink like that in the booklet though.

Not even sure if the black rubber parts are just fro protection on the shaft ?!!! will have to see what others have done.

Stick a few pics up uof the parts. This is the instruction for the mk3.

theres nothink mentioned in mine or any diagrams showing that so maybe they are meant to use what was on the shaft.
