Lepsons Alloy Wheel Refurbishers - Kent

I just thought it was worth posting in here after using the company over the years.

They first came on my radar from detailing world, I believe they are in the same ind est as KDS detailing. KDS themselves put pictures of some of their work up during their detailing threads and working in the body repair industry I had never seen an alloy wheel refurb finish like these.

Sadly until not so long ago when they were a tad smaller they were hard to transport wheels to and a large cost, these days they seem willing to pick wheels up (not sure outside of trade) with around a weeks turnaround.

All I can say is their work is second to no one in the wheel refurbishment sector. I think through the years we reckon we've tried 12 different refurbers and none come close to the standard we require.

We refurb wheels ourselves but due to them being hand rubbed and painted it's very time consuming and cost is high for the customer so we like to get them dipped etc and re painted. Again diamond cut like the ones below take even more specialist care. This set of M3 wheels were in very poor condition as you'll see from the images below.

Top work but any premium refurb company would look like that tbh. Black weights is a nice touch.

Only from experience I would disagree. Also how do you determine a premium alloy wheel company? Lepsons look like any other imo.

They've always been regarded as the best for as long as I can remember. (I live just around the corner from them)
They are pricy though, which is reflected in their work I guess [emoji4]

Lepsons, the wheel specialist.. Basically you get what you pay for.

We have 2 local "wheel specialist" franchises (east kilbride and edinburgh iirc, both weren't even close enough to what we needed.

That's fair. We have a new one 5 mins down the road from me and the work I've seen is top notch. We've got a few good places locally now.

Funny that. I asked this question recently and a few people shunned Lepsons due to some bad experiences on M3Cutters... Mine are in with Premier Wheel Repairs in Redhill at the moment. I'll update once I pick them up tomorrow.

I dealt with Lepsons over a year ago and to say they were unprofessional is putting it kindly.

I Ended up using KAP tyres (also in Kent) and the finish was superb (cheaper too).

Cumbernauld are about to do the Turinis on my cup, word of mouth paints them as really good so we will see! if they do a spot on job ill get them to do the Trophy ones

We had a couple of sets of Aston wheels refurbished by lepsons a few years back! Both a bbs style x spoke design and both sets after a few months all the lawyer began peeling off in large chunks.
Never used them again since.

But you always get the good and things can sometimes go wrong!

Mine were done by the WheelSpecialist and I wouldn't recommend them, they refurbed them but not to the standard they portrait in my opinion. All their showroom wheels were perfection, the actual customer items not so much.

Let me know how you get on Martin. I had Chris' Trophy wheels done at the wheel specialist at the Gyle and they were spotless, really impressed me. Then 3 silver sets of wheels in a row were very poor.

Funny you should say that. Dave and I got ours done there at the same time. His were anthracite and superb, mine were silver and shite!
You ever used we restore alloys over in Kirkcaldy?

They're right near me and I wouldn't use them. I've basically heard from more than one source that they've got a real chip on their shoulder because of their reputation, and because of that they don't take kindly to the customer not being happy about anything for whatever reason.

No, possibly a bit too far. There is no one local to us that I'd trust to do perfection. You can get a half decent set if you were happy but we can't put our name to half decent or give them to a customer.

We use a company called Phoenix alloys in Bristol.
They do ANYTHING from painted to diamond cut to split rim refurbs. I wouldn't go anywhere else tbh.

Never even heard of any of the ones mentioned in here.

They were stunning mate. I still have the guy Colin's number. As you say though wheel refurb companies can be hit and miss. Those m3 wheels are a pain in the ass to keep good. I changed mine to CSL alloys because of it.

So when the wheel weight falls off after some time your going to have a square of different colour paint...

I do my own now since I've learnt to blast and powdercoat. Our general drive in drive out price is £85 a wheel for bigger wheels and slightly less for smaller wheels.

Funny when people twine saying such and such can do it for £20 a wheel, well crack on then, we all know they'll look s**t and won't last.

My first attempt at blasting and powdering.

Premier Wheel Repairs in redhill. Not 100% (slight orange peel from the powder coating) but I'm a fussy fucker.

You see this is the thing. What are these people powder coating? Primer? Colour? Lacquer? Are the hand finishing any of it from a gun?

It seems to change everywhere you go.

We powder prime, powder colour and powder lacquer.

Seeing some wheels though I would say some companies just powder right over the old s**t wheels with no prep work at all.

I used the wheel specialist in Manchester... NEVER AGAIN. I asked for Ferric Grey and gave them the paint code from BMW, got a phone call the wheels were ready...
