LOGBOOKS/ENGINE Numbers

  182 FF
HI GUYS,

Please will you check that all the numbers correspond to a car and the logbook before checking. i cannot stress to you enough.

I bought a Megane 225 around 6 month ago and when i went to get it MOT'd it didnot have a matching chassais number!
Therefore having to report it to the police and loosing my £4000 car.:dapprove:

i must now say i wont be buying any cars though private sale/gumtree etc unless i know the car.

Just a Warning! :nono:

Pretty standard practice to check it properly isn't it? I know I do!

Did nothing show up on an HPI check? Did you even do one?

hpi wouldnt tell you if numbers where the same..it might have poped up with cat c,d maybe as would be 1 reason they wouldnt match other than that ringer/cut shut etc...hope you have police involved and small claims court

I always check they match up. One letter was written wrong on a previous car. Papers said it was a 0 when it was in fact a D on the chassis from memory. Never caused any issues.

OP, still interested to know if your two numbers were completely different or just slightly out?

Possible troll?

The OP hasn't been back to answer any of the questions.... seems odd to me.
