Its aluminium. It will be gettin polished, just not got round to it yet. Got a ramair filter inside it.

fixes onto the throttle body itself. has like three bolts on it so you can fasten it to that.
 


Heath Robinson = a way of describing something which looks home made but functions well enough. I dont know who he/she was. Its often a term associated with inventions and prototypes.

Ha ha, you learn something everyday; I always thought Heath Robinson meant homemade but functional... well I never!

Like some of the cartoons though, maybe we should have our own competition to design some Heath Robinson mods...?!

was thinking about something similar a couple of weeks ago, but having an opening in the top ducted to my bonnet vent.

How do you test whether it is working as good as or better then a normal air box?

How easy is it to fit your replacement filter when it gets dirty?

Wish I could think up things like that.

well i had a digital thermostat in the airbox i made and tested it against that and a K and N. the air was like 20 degrees cooler or somethin. For every 2 degrees temp drop the power gain should be like 1%. So therefore about 8bhp in theory. Little rough but I think it makes sense.
 


Has anyone seen the induction kit used by Ferrari in the LaMans.

It has a similar design to Paul16v but it keeps the air flow into the engine constant, even when the car has stopped. It uses a chamber design that keeps the pressure equal negligable of the air input pressure.

It works like this:

When travelling at high speed the air forced into the chamber would more than necessary, so it stores it. This stored air is then used at slow speeds to compensate the pressure. Therefore the pressure into the engine stays equal. Unfortunately I dont know the engineering concept. But it works
