Looking at a ph 1 172 clio

Evening all first post so be gentle. I currently own a Peugeot 406 coupe and have the option of buying a clio 172 on an x plate. So phase 1. 95k full history, it has a little damage to the rear bumper where someone scuffed it, along with a tiny piece of the rear quarter, but hasnt dented the metal. Ive been offered the car for £1800 . Ive never owned a clio before , my ex used to have a h plate 1.4 rt, but that s years ago. Looking on AT and piston heads it seems a reasonable price. So I hope to be the owner of it or 1 very soon. I also decided to pay the £10 joining fee as it seems a real good site.

Welcome mate, price sounds alright.

I think I'd recommend trying to save an extra grand if possible and get a 50-60k example without any bodywork issues.

Also, make sure any ph1 you look at has had the belts changed - they will all be long overdue now. Higher miles examples are probably near a 2nd change due.

cheaper?? really? I was thinking this was cheap but if you guys know of any cheaper? lol. I cant believe i missed the clio boat and how quick they are, ive owned metro gti 16v s, golf gti 16v, astra gte s , xsi 306, rover coupe,s i wanted civic type r but sod that , the clio is king!
