Oddness.. was driving along, coming up to a red light, went for the brakes.. nothing, pedal went all the way down, handbrake was much the same.

Turned engine off, back on again, brakes fine.

Any ideas? :p

Pads, discs, lines are all only about 3-4 months old

I've had this before in my 1.4, scared the hell out of me, had to use the bus lane to avoid an accident. Turned around and went straight home, next time I drove it was fine and never happen again.

Servo problem possibly?

I had this happen before too on a couple of cars. Never found out what it was just kept driving it. If you pump your brakes whilst you weren't slowing you would of probably of been fine!

My mum had this, but she was pressing the clutch with her right foot lol ! she had her left foot on the footrest coming to the end of a DC and went for the brake thinking her left foot was on the clutch.

Pulled into the other lane and sailed past a massive queue of traffic then went round a roundabout. Everyone beeped her cos they thought she was queue jumping haha !

I had this. It did it once or twice over a period of a few months, then started getting more frequent, until it ended up having to pump the pedal multiple times just to stop.

Turns out one of the seals inside the master cylinder was knackered when I took it apart. Put a second hand cylinder off another car on and not had a problem since.

was going to suggest master cylinder. once there's a problem with the seals, they can be fine one minute, not-so-fine the next. v dangerous, obviously

Looks like one of the handbrake cables (I assume more than one?) has seized. Lovely grinding noise as I was on the M25

Just dropped it off into the garage that MOT'd it two weeks ago to find out what's gone bang

Sick of this f**king car, more than half its value in fixing and servicing this year alone

Once it's back it's going on AT and I'll enjoy not having a car for a while

Update from le garage..

Retaining pins that hold the pads in non existant

Pads slipped, disc made contact with caliper. So needs new pads and discs on the back, though they are only 4 months old, and maybe a new NSR caliper :(

Where the caliper made contact with the disc

Lack of retaining pins

Lack of cover over the hub nut.. not sure if that has anything to do with it, just something the garage pointed out
