Lucky Cambelt Escape!

  Lionel Richie
i had a phone call last week from a customer (who funnily enough was booked in for a cambelt change at the time)

his car had conked out and the RAC man had towed him home

the info i was given over the phone was promising, apparently the RAC man said the cams were still turning

so anyway, i drove for an hour to the customers house with tools in tow, jacked the engine up and whipped off the cam cover, right enough the cams would turn, BUT the belt was loose as hell

the car was trailered to my workshop and i took it apart and found the following

lucky is an understatement! no damage found so far, fingers crossed!

Lol - you have no idea how twitchy my arse has been between booking my car in with Birchdown at the end of the July - and actually taking it in two days ago. I drove EVERYWHERE like a bloody pensioner. I just thought it would be sod's law that I'll give it a blat and the belt go a few days before it was to be replaced.

Needless to say that my petrol consumption is taking a bit of a battering at the moment. ;)

Seen that a few times before , not just on the sports.

Feel sorry for the guy that booked in for a cambelt change on his scenic the other week, booked it for the following week but he turned up the very next day on a breakdown truck with a snapped cambelt.
