Making room for BMC (pics)

Well.... saw Nick Read´s project with the BMC air filter and desided to get one... looks awesome!! But as you all know there is not much room to play with, so why not make some room for the filter itself..

1: modify electric water pump bracket, 2: modify rubberhose (from pump(the one with the 1-way valve inside)), 3: Move fan assembly to the right

And presto = room for my BMC!!

Plan is to make a big fiberglass air scoop in the bumper (done), and some big piping to the filter (fiberglass reinforced drain pipe), and flexible hoses. Got hold of an extra temp sensor which I plan to fit in the piping, connect it to a switch so i can see the exact inlet temp in my dashboard, switch again and the outside temp will come on again!!!

Where you gettin the adaptor plate which goes on the end of the throttle housing, you know the one, oval shape with the three bolts?

out of intrest how r u attaching the pipe from the bmc to the T\B as i had to fabricate an adapter plate for nicks ?

Well... I plan on making as much as possible with fiberglass/plastic drain pipe... and the connections with silicone hose, 90 deg. bend approx 85mm diameter to the T/B ...

hmm... thx m8... thougt of placing it there too... but desided it would be easyer to get cold air to the filter from the other position... Where your filter is i have my brake fluid cylinder...... so no room!!

yer i tried for hours to get it to fit the other way, and gave up (for now) i need a new bit of ducting from the TB to the filter before I can play anymore as mine is about falling to bits....

The air is more restricted where I have mine now and i dont have a cold air feed going inot it yet either, Iv got sh*t loads of piping and ducting at home ready just need to get round to ordering the silicon ducting off DT! and its bloody expensive as well

But even where it is the car is much more responsive, so when its in its final resting place should see good results!

I need an adapter plate too, so if Adam can you let me know. What I am doing is repositioning my battery in the boot so I have loads of space for the filter.
