the correct order's described earlier in this thread

you don't use a sealant as the joint's designed to move (to allow for engine movement)

I apologise for riving an old thread but is it possible that a problem with my manifold to cat kit could cause a rattle when under acceleration?

Very possible. If the manifold has perished away, the bolts will become loose. The springs are then left to rattle away.

Ok, I've ordered a new fitting kit from NWP.

Will have a go at fitting it myself and see if it's any better. I hope I don't screw it up!

as dave says, gasket wears out, springs come loose.

Worth buying a decent kit though. cheap gaskets wear out faster
