Maya 7 advice

  172 cup TT
Hi everyone.. im starting to learn Maya 7.x and would like peoples advice on the best way to do it....

I.e: any evening, part time courses (around london / Hertfordshire)... Or any books / videos / DVDs etc that help.. Bear in mind i AM an absolute beginner but do understand the logic behind how 3D "works" if that makes sense... I know Maya is tough to learn but sod it... My first hurdle was getting Maya7, got it now, ultimate - yes the £6grand odd version(thanks sources) so need to put it to some use.

Cheers all.

Thanks Gav appreciated... I have been looking through the high end link, alot of it is WOO way over my head...but seems pretty straight forward once i learn the interface and stuff... that book seems handy, i did look at it a little while ago and seems alright.. How have you found it?.. Have you given up? - Also have you got a sample of a piece of work you have done?. Could you also tell me how long after you started learning maya you produced it too so i can see roughly how long it all takes to grasp.

One further thing, ive seen an intensive 40hr course for a week at the end of this month up in london - not far from me at all and seriously considering it.. Would you advise this is a good idea to get a good headstart on it?. I would just take a week off work hols and pay the 600 odd quid that it is... Thanks mate
