long overdue update - but not much has changed.

i refurbed my track wheels in orange but i'm not overly happy with how they have come out so will pay for them to be redone in a couple of months, it's not exactly a priority at the moment!!

also i had to take the plunge and buy 4 new tyres for the turini's, was going to go the cheaper option and buy contisport contacts but in the end thought stuff it and spend the money! 4x brand new 205/45/16 83v Michelin Pilot Exalto PE2's!

Nothing more to update at the moment as I'm busy saving for other upgrades and MOT is end of next month but I think it'll be ok. Might get it checked over just in case there is anything I haven't spotted. C&C welcome as usual :)

im from coleshill, 5 mins from the airport. whats the cat and fiddle run?

Suprised I havent seen you in Coleshill mate, I'm over there quite often as I play at the tennis club and have family that live on Highbrink Road if you know where that is. Roads round nearby Maxstoke are a good blast ;)!

Car looks perfect by the way, must be nice to be able to choose between Turinis/F1's!

yeah it's pretty nice having both - expensive, but nice! f1's are being saved for track use next year now.

yeah i just need to spend a bit of time tidying it up. i think there's 3 tar patches to get rid of which should save a few more kilo's, but im keeping the standard door cards and carpet for now as it's still my daily driver. not really in a position to get another car just yet so need to be fairly sensible still!

MOT next saturday morning too......

Yeah Stu's left and I think it's Steve Judd that has took over now. Wouldn't having a look at the 172 next time I'm over mate :)

little annoyed update.....

got a puncture at some point today. nice screw right into the main tread of the tyre. i wouldn't normally mind but i went and got 4 new pe2's only a month ago in ready for my MOT this saturday morning! Will go back to the tyre place before work in the morning and hopefully it can be repaired, if not i'll order a new one to the tune of nearly £100 - that's if there's any PE2's available at the moment.

rant over.

A few years back, i got two nails in two different tyres in a week :(

it's proper annoying! just when you try and be prepared something like this gives you a set back. it's the third puncture i've had in 3 years, and all have been on new tyres. just seems like the nails and screws get attracted to them :(

hmm possibly, but there's one straight route/road between my house and work - it's like 5 miles there! would be a bit of pain to change the route and not get caught by any speedbumps. it's not even like im not being watchful on the road ahead, i avoid every bump and pothole going!

some people must think im either half asleep or a drink driver sometimes when they're following me! never mind, i hope i can get it repaired in the morning.

lol, also trying to avoid pot holes as well as things that stick in our tyres, probably come to nothing but send your council a letter about, might get a road sweeper up it more often if nothing else

that maybe worth a shot i guess! Have been to the tyre place this morning, the screw is too close to the sidewall to be repaired. Ordered a new one - seems like a real shortage on the pe2's at the moment btw - 99 fitted on the 205's ouch!

just got back from MOT station.....

...... Passed fine not a problem with no advisories too.

That was with my SERV and airbag lights on due to fitting bucket seats. Well happy now, can spend some more money on new bits rather then repairing it!

update for today...

... went to town on the tar patches/sound deadening in the back of the car. 5 of them in total. 3 on the boot floor, and one on either side of the chassis.

bought myself a heat gun, wallpaper scraper and some white spirit. this is the heat gun i bought:

http://www.diy.com/diy/jsp/bq/nav.j...refview=search&ts=1257781374042&isSearch=true

first off, i heated the tar patches in sections with the heat gun and then attacked them with the scraper. works a treat and got all the tar off within about half an hour. result.

then it was time to get the glue off. it came off fairly easy with a bit of elbow grease on the one's on the boot floor. just took an old rag and a helping of white spirit and the glue dissapeared. but the one's on the chassis were a right pain in the arse! absolutley tonnes of glue and the one side took me forever to get off! got there eventually though, and here's some finished pics.

I also had a quick look at the air filter I have in at the moment (ITG) to make sure it was ok and no dirt or debris in the air box. All was fine with that - but i dropped the front airbox screw down the front of the bay. I think it's just fell somewhere near the front panel. Took it for a quick drive around our car park at the flats, and then followed the route round I took to see if it's dislodged itself and fell out, but I couldn't see it. I'm sure it will fall out whilst driving - hope it's not too serious :(

Also, thanks to Trev_m I've bought some mirror caps, that I'll have resprayed at the same time as when I send the track wheels to get properly refurbished in orange at some point over the winter!

Little update today.

It had a small service - oil and filter, and pollen filter change courtesy of Fred @ BTM Performance.

Top work as per usual and highlighted that the oil pressure sensor was not plugged in :s

No light on the dash either so a little strange, but sorted now!

Parts to be ordered at some point in the new year are a new steering wheel and some new coilovers. Still undecided as to which ones yet!

Nice job, I really need to tidy my stripped interior out, so this thread will have a few helpful tips for me :)

As for coilovers, Im in the same dilemma!

meek - that picture shows the drivers seat outer lug which is meant to be for the harness eyebolt to attach on to.

frame is great apart from the untidy welding and poor choice of location for that lug. Therefore in that postition it is unuseable. Numpties.

  RB 182
Grrrr.... they told me the frame was updated too... Will just gring it off and have it like the other side. Have no idea why they put a bent lug in the first place!

I know it's stupid. Before I ordered mine like 9 months ago I told them the design of the frame was incorrect - they sent me pics of the frame before I ordered - and they assured me the frame had been modified to fit properly, but sure enough turned up the same as before.
