Men of War - going cheap on Steam - this weekend only

From the reviews I've seen, this RTS seems to be a bit of marmite game. Some love it - some even saying its the best RTS they have played in years, while others find it too difficult and a bit lacking.

However, for this weekend onlt, there is 75% off the price - making it a mere £6.25 to buy through Steam. I'm about 85% through downloading it myself, so I can't comment just yet!

Added some pics now

First impressions are quite good. It's a lot more 'realistic' than Company of Heroes - by that, the chances of an infantry section against a tank are not good. It portrays the complete disregard for life on the Russian front - literally people were cannon fodder.

Graphics are good, probably not on par with CoH, but the unit animation is just as good. Riddle a truck with bullets and the glass pops out, the chassis sinks to one side as tyres are blown out, etc. There's some very good attention to detail in it.

Overall, it's pretty tricky. Not helped by a virtually non-existant tutorial section - you're pretty much thrown in at the deep end.

Oh, and there's cringe-worthy voice acting - truly bad Russian to English translation going on! However, for the price, it's well worth it, I think. Apparently the single player campaign is good enough for 30+ hours.



Repaired a tank - now I's a off a huntin'

Looks like a nailed a few Holding down the 'V' key shows the location of the bodies. Red are bad guys, yellow your own.

Hitting a fuel truck, has its advantages...

My tank ended up crippled by a damaged track, but at least I held off the German convoy.

Mission complete.
