Not to worry guys! Left it a few minutes and dannnaaaaahhhh we have lift off! Everythings working as it should (touch wood) no more flickering lights no more non functioning windows, no more peering through wet glass when my wipers don't work, it's fixed!!! Woohoooo!!
£258 last time I checked, they were down to £150 at one point too. I'd rather pay that for a proper job and have everything fixed and working as it should rather than "bodge" it swapping old bits over a loosing feature. Plus the vin numbers on the ecu and the uch won't match the shell now either (not overly important).
Guess its just a difference of opinion, I don't cut corners trying to save a few bob. If a jobs worth doing its worth doing right imo.
It explains a lot of the rough older RS's I see these days though.
Fair enough mate. It's a shame UCH units can't be reprogrammed If they were under £200 it's not an issue. Although, lots of faults some times point to the UCH, when if fact it's nothing to do with it. So a waste of money really.
The only problem I could see is if people buy the incorrect UCH for the car.ie. N2 or N3. It should be plug and play otherwise. I see what you're saying though. Plus most people who do these changes might not realise that there are different UCH with different parametres on. Just an expensive black box with a few relays attached
Price was 268 for a new Uch then 140 to fit it, I got it all for £80 and did it myself. Once cruise control and ESP is set up on it it'll be as good as going to Renault. Both n3 units too. Anything I can't do or major I don't and won't do
