ok so i got bored and thought about taking my upper inlet manifold off to do a few things i needed to do and thought i would do all the pipes on the rats nest...

this is what the rats nest looks like lol...

as you can see its not fun

here is a drawn plan to show you what its like in an easier to see way...

now during playing with this i managed to break a solenoid valve ...

these aint cheap i think they are 80 quid plus for a new one...

after reading for hours and trying to source a replacement solenoid, i found a guide on how to simplify the rats nest as im running non sequential turbo's, basically in stock for a rx7 the first turbo comes on at 1800rpm then at 4krpm the second turbo comes on, however running non sequential means both turbos come on at the same time at around 2500rpm acting like one single turbo...

here is the simplification diagram
Non-SequentialChrisVersion.jpg

as you can see it removes a huge amount! plus saves me stupid amounts of money on the solenoid... will post more pics tomorrow when i have removed stuff :)

Honestly, why did they do it like that, non sequential really neatens it up.
The hoses you leave off, can you leave the nipple exposed or does it need to be bunged?

the whole rats nest unbolts, so u can remove pretty much everything from the engine... on the newer rx7's 99 spec they did away with it completely and used a rack of electronic solenoids...

at the end of the day its designed to run sequential so you feel both turbo's which can be fun but also can be pretty edgy accellerating through a corner second turbo comes on they tend to kick out the back end... which if your not expecting it can scare people, running non sequential is basically turning both turbo's in to 1 unit giving the same feeling a single turbo would, plus by doing the simplification when i do get my single turbo it will be a simple job :)

plus doing this makes getting to fuel injectors sooo much easier i wanna replace my primarys which are 550cc injectors with 1650cc injectors, keeping the secondary injectors at 850cc which will require a new primary fuel rail and new fittings on the secondary... but will be fueling for 700bhp+ then

Oh btw, cheers for your advice, registered on MRC and it's providing a big source of info:).

can you not source a solenoid valve that does the same thing i.e. 12v normally open / normally closed?

RS components. And screw in a barbed connector to suit the hose?

Materials would need to be rated for fuel i.e. viton seals not NBR / Nitrile

rory i read a few threads and no one has found a solenoid that will do the same job, but as i said i dont need one as im going to remove everything...

its just getting it all off that is the pain as its not designed for english hands lol!

today i went nuts and kinda lost my rag lol, im missing 1 spanner (in a field over the road) and snapped some screwdrivers :(

anyway rats nest is nearly all out... (the hard way mind you) i later found out if i take the coilpacks out its a case of 3 or 4 nuts and it comes out :(

so tomorrow it will all be out, im taking the y pipe and rear turbo pipe out to replace with ported polished ones, got water injection on the way too and need to sort a boost controller and intercooler then i need it mapped AGAIN! should be close to 370bhp then... which is about the limit with stock twins, so then will be single turbo which all this work is needed for anyway and 450bhp :)

Did you use the new silicon you had off me mate? :)

You got an efini Y pipe or an aftermarket one?

What water injection you going with mate and what intercooler setup? Vmount FTW I reckon :D

I do miss mine a lot. Maybe get another one day but will probably go with a late spec one or one that's been totally sorted.

Wonder how my UK spec one is doing in Sweden?!?
