ive got 17's on my mk1 172, a lot of people advise against them though.
never had any rubbing when it wasnt lowered - however now half the wheel arch linings have had to be removed now its lowered, easy enough job with a stanley knife!
as for the offset not too sure - just phone up a wheel place and ask them if its the same..
