Mk1 172 decat?

  BMW E46 330i Touring
Where's the best place to get one? I was hoping to hear back from Fred@Yozza, but nothing so am assuming they're unable to make one up.

Speaking to the local Powerflow monkey, he was loathed to make one due to the current Cat layout, saying that making a cheap decat would be more hassle than it's worth and decrease performance if anything...

I emailed him a while ago asking if they'd make one and he came back saying they may use ym car as the guinea pig and offer a deal, but that was a while ago and nothing since...

Anyone know if the Mk1 / 2 decat is the same / different?

Only down side having a decat on a 172 is its a pain to fit and take off again something of which you'll need to do when it comes to every MOT time and less you know a friendly garage ;)

On the plus side it did make a difference to performance

Mine used a mk2 Janspeed decat although it had a late spec double cat fitted with it being one of the last mk1 172's. Not sure if its a different lengh to the earlier single cat phase ones or not

the mk2 ph2 decats are different lengths,

as for taking them on/off not as hard as people say if you've got the right tools it'll take and hour and a half.

The car will ideally need to be on a ramp plus that works out at a total of 3 hours and 2 folk which = a pain in da rear.

I know its only once a year but its still a pain. Thank god for 182 manifolds :)

My Janspeed decat said ''Clio cup'' on it so i take it it was meant for a mk2 ph2? It fitted spot on with no probs.
