Mk3 Bank Holiday Clean

  2008 Albi 197
Weather was quite nice today after work so I decided to give my car a good clean, with the help of the girlfriend. I did the following:
  • Jet wash wheel arches, underbody and got all the sh*t off spare wheel
  • Cleaned wheels with Megs wheel brush and wheel cleaner
  • Rinse car with normal hose
  • Wash with wool wash mitt and Megs #00 car shampoo
  • Dried with waffle weave towel
I then got my Megs clay kit out, first time I've used it, and the first time its ever been done to my car by the looks of what came off. I wish I'd taken a photo, it was filthy, the clay kept turning greeny/black within seconds. I was amazed for a car only 2yrs old how much was embedded in the paint. Next:
  • Polished with Poorboys polish and sealant
  • Waxed with 3 coats of Poorboys Natty Blue wax
  • Cleaned windows
  • Dressed tyres with Poorboys tyre shine
The paintwork has such a deep shine to it now and its smooth as glass!

I was supposed to do exactly the same today, bought my Megs clay kit about 3 weeks ago but haven't used it today. I gave it a proper good wash and then dried it before going inside for lunch with plans on spending the whole afternoon trying my clay out and then using the old SRP and EGP combo....and then I had to babysit at short notice for the afternoon. Gutted.

Looks good mate, you have a slight advantage of having a newer car than me but i still aim to get similar results when i finally get around to it ;)

Thanks for the replies guys!

I was always sceptical about using clay as to whether it was as good as people said, and I thought my car, being fairly new, was fine with a good polish and wax.

I have to say now though its totally worth using the clay, as I said above, so much sh*t came off the paint I couldn't believe it!
